now ive heard parts of this mentioned in other posts but it didnt work in the exact manner im going ot mention here.

I have heard people say that in the TT game (dont jump down my throat i know i know have to translate it to real time) that Heat was handled in a way that say your mech could handle 10 heat per turn (second, minute wtf ever) and the ML was 5 heat (i have no clue what it was in TT)

you could fire both of the ML and be totaly fine with not even a blip on your "heat"

but if you fired a third ML then you would gain 5 heat.

now from here in the actual game say we have a 6 ML jenner, he can handle 20 heat with a maximum heat possible of say 40(adjustable).

he fires 4 ML and gains zero heat,
he then fires 2 ML gains zero heat (say using the current .5 timing)
he then fires all 6 (alpha) he gains 10 heat
while firing this excess heat DOES NOT DISSIPATE, if you have a weapon on cooldown your excess heat WILL NOT DISSIPATE!!!! also it disipates at 1/2 rate currently unless shut down(remember that)
he alphas again he is now at 20 heat
he goes back to chain firing or small group firing but its a really long fight and he has not had a chance to break combat to let that heat dissipate (or maybe it did alittle but i too lazy to do more math so bear with me)
some spider starts taunting him and he has had enough and goes into Ahab mode
he trys chain firing but that damn little spider just laughs at him with not even a twinkle from his armor.
so our jenner switches to all alpha
ALpha 3- he is now at 30 heat
alpha 4 - he is now at 40 heat his maximum heat threshold
at this point (maybe make this a SLIGHT range +/- say 3-42) he is on verge of overheat but unlike current game if you hit the heat cap threshold you CAN NOT FIRE ANY WEAPONS until your heat drops below the threshold, once it does your free to fire whatever as long as you dont over tax your heatsinks.
now say our little jenner got his heat down to 35 and that little spider decided to go afk a second and was just sitting there the jenner lines up his shot and
BOOM!!!!!
Dead spider Jenner.....
see he over heated and his reactor blew up game over little buddy the spider has escaped again.

but hopefully the added visuals helped you see what i mean please let me know what you think
The thinking behind this is that Alphas would still be useable without crippling your ability to shoot ANYTHING you have, but firing large weapons would still increase your heat. If you blow your loads too early in a fight you could find yourself in a situation where you desperatly needed to be able to shoot those 4 LL, or 4 PPC, or 8 ML etc etc and instead the best you can do without going into OverHeat is one laser at a time.

also i think the added INSTANT DEATH for extreme over heat is better then now when paird with ability to keep firing SOMETHING even when borderline overheat.
Lights could chain fire all day and always be able to do something instead of pew pew pew okay now i gotta run around for a minute till i can fire again. and assaults cant just expect their HS to soak up all the heat of alpha after alpha they actually have to use their alphas sparingly if they are going to be in any heavy fighting.

To clarify, it was 3 heat.

No.

That is even further out of cannon line than this higher heat threshold we've already got. We don't need to do that.
