depends;
I mean it's better than 'license gets buried and not used for 10 years'.
OTOH
i REALLY wish it would go to somebody who actually cared about the IP and the playerbase.

I know any change could muck MWO up, but it's also certain that neglect will soon it eventually.

Keep in mind when slamming PGI, that no other studio showed an interest in acquiring the license before they did. PGI also managed to stand up to Harmony Gold.

I think for now, imminent death is out of the question.
Russ still needs to pull a rabbit out of his hat in order for the franchise to keep running for the next five years, and he needs to say something more concrete to the audience. Maybe some day in the weeks ahead, he will have to say something.

Russ Bullock has never understood - even after all those years - that the players need something meaningful to do with all their 'Mechs they own. It does not matter if you nascar in Spider or Incubus, in Victor or Kodiak ...
In the end, you are still running around one ******* rock just as thousand times before.

It's not like they make most of the assets from scratch. They alter existing ones, patch it like a rag cloth and create something nice. Only a handful of assets are made new. Just as the players start to feel jaded by PoE, out comes new content and the population increases again and the cosmetic items (that's all they ever sell except for storage space) start selling like hotcakes. This cycle repeats.
This happens 'cause the lead developers and the higher-ups actually know what their is like and play it themselves. I wonder how many PGI people in-charge or making decisions actually play MWO or even MW5 for that matter and really know it inside out.

Unfortunately, it is very difficult for stupid, stubborn people who live in their world of confirmation bias, thinking that they're right no matter what and their skills are special, backed up by the "Yes" men.

They should be playing it anyway, they're the ones selling it! They should be playing for external marketing by knowing the product and playing for internal marketing by encouraging the community; "Best dressed 'mech I see in game wins a mech pack, kill me in game win a bolt-on".
