Ai Lances In Faction Play

Having a full 4 mech lance with 3 AI players and 1 player or up to 14. Also make bases for units that can be placed within their respective faction zone which can be invaded. Also could purchase with CBills the AI mech warrior and skill can be improved over time and or purchased.

This would be fantastic!! Just having a bot fill in to get a match going faster would be amazing!!

its an idea, dont know whats really going on with this game and if they are going to be anymore updates with this game. Faction play needs a serious over haul

Hmmm.
Had there been a decent AI added in the game it might have worked.
Not even the Atlas in Escort mode was really considered Artificially Intelligent..... maybe Artificially Stupid.
Far past the option to have this sort of thing now.
Even turrets with their limited AI were removed from modes such as Assault. We might have been able to do something with that years ago but that is not the direction the game went.

Unfortunately we will not see this in MWO.

Things can always be updated and changed. if Piranha Games wanted revenue, I would pay for it to have the ability to do this plus have option to fly and drop bombs from high altitude would be freakin awesome.

AI would need a nav mesh around each build model, and then a nav mesh layed out on the map.
A lot of testing would be needed for each map to see if the AI Mechs could work.
The different sizes of Mechs could be a problem for Mechs getting stucked between buildings.

Air Units like VTOLs need a simple nav mesh because they can always change to higher attitude to avoid obstacles.
Same with human size infantery: would need a nav mesh around buildings, but is small enough to not get stuck.
Still a lot of work.

I agree. With the waiting problems in Group Queue Faction Play got new players, players that will leave Faction Play with the recent changes in Match Making for Quickplay again.

AI Mechs / Tanks / VTOLs would be nice to have in Accademie or Testing Grounds. But IMHO AI Mech are not the overhaul Faction Play needs.

More important things:
  • Smaller 3 Mech, 150/165 ton Drop Decks for the normal maps. 4 Mechs with 265 Tons is too much for anything else than Siege.
  • Group size limit of 4 like now in Solo Quickplay to speed up matchmaking by avoiding problematic group sizes with only on combo (5+3, 6+2, 9+3, 10+2)
  • 4 vs 4 and 8 vs 8 match sizes with small maps like Forest Colony classic or Frozen City classic for times with low player population and to balance player tiers.
  • rework of the VOIP system: Sub Channel for each Lance. Voice in Lance Channel (4 players) always on. VOIP button = talk to all 12 players of the team. Less confusion
  • rework of the score board: Call Signs for each Lance Member like Alpha 1, Alpha 2,.... because talking to Alpha 3 is easier than "talking to the guy with the c00l nickname in l33tspe4ke who drives the yellow urban mech that has an enemy mech behind him"...
  • Rework of the faction rank rewards: no Mechbays to lure grinders in Faction Play and no non-faction stuff like Gazelle Drop Ship statues. More faction themed rewards like faction Decals, Banners, Medalions, Warhorns, Colors, Drop Decks
  • Faction Mechs that can only be earned in Faction Play with faction ranks or as prize in faction events: like the Grand Dragon for Kurita or the Banshee 5S for Steiner.
  • Regular Clan vs Clan and IS vs IS conflicts additional to the Clan vs IS conflicts: 4 alliances: Federated Commonwealth & Rasalhauge vs Concord of Kaptyen (Kurita & Marik & Liao), Crusader Clans (Jade Falcon, Steel Vipers, Smoke Jaguars) vs Warden Clans (Wolf, Ghost Bear, Nova Cat, Diamond Shark).

I agree with most of what you say, not the clan on clan action. Some are into that stuff not I. Inner sphere can do that all day long for all I care.
