HOW TO GET GUUD AT MECHWARRIOR ONLINE...

Im 98%++ Jarls...100% Solo queueue.. No Friends!!.. I meanzz,.. not playin with "pals"... complete lone wolf'in but Guud Plyer mate... Avg'in 1.5++ W/L... == a very good Lancemate (and nice person tooo booot!"hangz onn buddy ima cummin to sav yaa OUCH1! AMBUUSH!! Why didnt ya say sumtin!!??" HOLOHOLOHOLO!)

Jest for starters (Solo.
- My ANNIHILATOR ANH-2A games played =132, average W/L = 1.77, and KDR =2.27... (and thats when Iwuz nerfed... shhh.. i figurdid out!!)... Annies are VERY DIFFICULT to pilot
- And other spectrum so-so mech: MIST LYNX MLX-G avg W/L =1.5, KDR =2.41 (lt machguns)... games played =340... it is a slightly underrated mech... waay easier than piranha... Speaking of(pir scores... all of 'em!!).. dont Ask; DONT TELL! dun hat plz..
- Lets do ATLAS AS7-S games played =76(not muuch but); avg W/L = 1.64 (via Uber-Tankin fur the team at right moments), KDR = 1.23 (guud enuff..)... aka team player using tank coordinationalzly, soaking damage while team bum rushes 'round corners... thats where the Atlas shines!!
- Overall W/L (5yrs) =2.04 current.. =hvy team contributrajectories.!!.. Posted Image

Sooo,.. pop quiz hotzshizzles!!:
- Wuut... makes MWO fun to play as part of a team??? Answer: ..as part of A TEAM!!
- How... do you get to where you can plays as "part of thuh TEAMZorz"?? Answer: By learning very complicated and difficult Mechanicals of the game. This is a REALLY COMPLEX and FUN game that is Extremely difficult to get right, both by the Devs and by the Players. Players need to learn ALL (88%)PLAY STYLES to get guud AND BE GUUD at MOST PREMIERE MECHS WITH DECENT LOADOUTS... to get used TO THE BASICS of being guud... combine 'em all together to become skilled. Skilled players bottom =80-85 percentile (Jarl's List... its a guud list if u not carried or hvy group play). 90% and Upzorz and you are a CONSISTENT CONTRIBUTOR... itz means YA GOTT IT!! YAAY!!.. 95%+ and you can call yourself a Guud At M..W..O..Online
- CAN ANYONE DO THIS?? Answer: YESSS!! Its knowin where u goin wrong thats the biggest block to improvin your play. Playing certain mechs will help isolated baaadly needed skillz to help climb that currvatures..
- SOoooo... how do you get guud??? Answer: Simple!! Y..

HOW TO GET GUUD:

1) Start with an average Light Mech and aim for 0.8 W/L ration, and 1.2 KDR. I highly recommend using a Raven RVN-2X with 2ERLARGE, 2MED lasers with XLEngine260. Learn how to maneauver and poke with 2ERLs in Early to Mid round. This will build up Understanding where does the enemy like to go??, make you vulnerable and isolated so you learn how Fight Alone AND maneuver to group fights... how often are you to be picked offf when sniping. And how to poke correctly... Risk vs Reward... AND to shooot lasers properly... aka get your mech to hold still while firing on single components. You are faast, so you dont have to worrry about Positional Planning.. or Team Dynamics.. thats fur laterzz..

Get guud with a Raven 2X... valuable skills will be learnt (an' unlearnt!!).. and REALLY FUNN... (its OWNZ REWARD to be bettuh' 'an 'average in a Ranged Raven!!)
Yeah...QUIRKS: go for all Laser Duration, max-speed +accell/brak quirks, half-armor, 3-cool runs with sum hill-climb.

Poking-counterpoking Right, and Running to guud Positions is the name of the game.. dont forget torso twist only slightly to splash damage. Main Skill to learn: DONT TAKE DAMAGE when poking... minimize it... poke intelligently with ur agility... and RUN when they after you!

2) Then get guud with that Mist Lynx (any, i use -G).. 8 LTMACHGUNS, 2 HVYMEDLASs. Its a Brawler/Striker with Jump Jets. In this mech, you will learn how to POKE and assault WITH THE TEAM (or die), while focusing down components using thee ARGGHHH! ('R') keey!! with your 8 lite machguns. Plus,.. you will poke in while stayin in your group WITH JUMP JETS to distract & confuse. Plus... those Heavy Medium Lasers... you will learn WHEN to shoot AND shoot ON TARGET or your heat modestly builds.

Skills to learn: When to go IN or Stay Out... aka reading what your buddies are doing in a fight, how to Stay Safe in Group (u squishy!) while SUPPORTING (firing same targets) your mates... take out those components for him after he takes out the armor casing... poke Right after he does without being returned

MISTLINX is really really fun to plaay especially when you focus on How to Contribute and Augment your Teams fighting style. Remember to twist 45 degrees(no more) to spread damage.. or you lose those arms quickly..

Go for 1.2 W/L ratio... and 1.5 KDR.. then switch to

3) KODAK KDK-3 with 4 LBX10s... Armor quirk it asap (even if u have to use some points), then speed/accell/brake quirks. Go for Radar Deprevation 60% for LRM breathin space. Use the Kodiak to learn HOW TO READ UR TEAM... AND PLAN AHEAD. It is easy to shoot things with, at close to medium range... no heat management... no ammo management... Its all about how to move a slowwww-azz but powerful build into position AND how to coordinate a push. i) Always stay near-front with most of your team. ii) Maneuver around to find a safe place to begin a push (aka the Right Flank (90% of time)... with a) Cover.. pluse Posted Image minimal Foes... c) maximal Friendslys)... iii) Read when a push is about to happen and Join in or Lead it in.

Never go off by yourself without support.. never lead a push without allowing yourself to make mistakes and RETURN TO COVER... Never DEFEND the rear(unless whole team rushes back), your place is up front for a push... you're too slow to make it up to the front again.

This build will teach you TO LEARN WHERE TEAMS ARE LIKELY TO BE.. so that you move AHEAD to Stay Safe and be upfront shooting. Torso Twisting a little only (high weapon cycle for LBX10s). But DO learn to tank in the arms when Overwhelmed... your team will get to you just timing...

Go for 1.5-ish W/L ratio; 1.5-ish KDR before leaving for another build...

4) Get guud with THESE THREE MECHS and you will have learned more than 80% of players online. Work haard at it... reflect what you did right and Wrong after EVERY MATCH... Try again!!.. and again.. and again until it the mechs feel like 2nd nature!!... Once you graduate... The Rest is Open Waters...

Honorable mentions aka Next Mechs:
- HELLBRINGER HBR-PRIME: Learn mid-long range positioning, laser-sniping while trying to stay safe moving WITH the group. Be careful though,... relying on that ECM when you new might miistake ya'!
- LRM boating with Warhammer IIC -2 - 4x LRM15 or 1 20... Stay in group, stay with team,... but support fire AND WHILE SHARE ARMOR... poke out of cover with the team to share armor. Allow yourslef to be distraction so your team can escape or out-maneauver!! EXCELLENT skills to learn here!!... LRM-BOATING Rule-of-Thumb: Armor MUST BE GREEN WITH THE TEAM... aka As teams armor drops... so should yours... And Never be green at half-point
- Victor VTR-9A1 - 3 LBX10s,.. easy hvy mech to pilot.. Learn how to brawl as part of a group.. and maneauver around where needed... very flexible and laid back mech... Get guud with Kodiak 4LBX10s first though!
- Marauder IIC MADIIC 2 LARGEPULSE, 6 MEDPULSE: Very "easy" laservomit to learn... Just know when to go in(by playing Kodiak and Mist Linx above)... and Stabilize yur Laser Burns!! You have guud armor.. decent accell/brake.. can poke(-ish) AND tank. And your burns do huuuge damage at short to med ranges.... Players score high in this build
- LOCUST with 4 ERMEDS... Teaches how to poke fire at med-close range Really Guud while dodge bullets around enemy legs... get behind enemies without being seen/shotatt.. Get guud to 1.2 W/L and 1.3 KDR... is guud

KEEP AWAY FROM (despite high player recommendations):
- 4LBX10s CYCLOPS CP-S (Pur): Too slow and not tanky enough for sub-80per players(mostly)... not guud enuff to learn in
- Any Atlas - Too in-Agile despite engine speed... you cant get out of Mistakes... very punishing build
- Annhilators - Same with Atlas... plus your profile gets shot at toooo often just getting to position... HOWEVER, GREAT to learn later in life (for sum1!)
- 2ERPPC SHADOWCATS - Sure... it can be self-rewarding to get to 1.2 W/L... but it sucks for everyone else... Use to self-challenge only pleeeez... And it doesnt build that much skill. PPCs projectile is tooo slow at range

Heres the standard to follow:
- 400 Match Score is standard for excellent player (solo, no buds) at each Match End.
- 0.8 W/L = Avg(tru); 1.2 = good; 1.5+ = Excellent
- Same with AVG KDR.. (mostly, maybe 1.6+ = Excellent
- KDR by Mech: 1.3 = good; 1.5 = Great; 2.1+ = Excelled
Again... no buds to inflate each other (or be Carried... dun worry.. its cool'.. great to Have Friends!!)

Andd finally... Go EASY ON PLAYERS when they make mistakes!! Put it in a form of a Question, insteadzorz!! "Maybe if ya' cut across the middle to hit the enemies killing us in the rear... we wouldn't follow you in wiiide circles??"

MASTER THESE BUILDZZ... AND HAVE LOTS OF FUNN! YOUR SKILL WILL IMPROVE IMMMENSLY... PROMISSSE!! Posted Image

And.. dunt follow baradul's hotheaded advices... it RARELY works!! Not sure wut hes thinkin... when here shares thos tidderbitz... (seriouslyy... people getz stuckz down below jest from him!).. BUT DO watch his vids cuz theyre funn!!

And TTB... he plays ONLY with friends... Get guud by figuring out on your own... but start with the Above pleeez!!

Okaay... com at mee NEEWBSESESS!!...

When choosing a light mech chose one that has a weapons configuration you'll most likely use a lot. Lasers, missile or a gun. Avoid an ammo dependent mech as you'll find yourself out of ammo and an easy target. Lights are the hardest class to learn when using an is light mech with an xl engine but also have some of the fastest or tank-y lights in the game.

Top three armor heavier lights for is when you add on all 18 survival skills are:
1.Urban mechs
2. Panthers
3. Firestarters

You ideally want to focus on getting 20-22 skills first into mobility for max speed tweek. 18-20 into survival for more armor. Next decide if you want dps or to make a support build. 20-44 points into fire power will get you much faster cool down, less heat per shot and more range. Spend the remainder as you wish. You'll end up with 91 skills active.

Work on learning the maps finding the shortest routes and surviving a little longer each map. Lights excel at fighting at range so use your max and optimal weapon ranges. When fighting other fast movers be they lights or fast 90kph-120kph mediums remeber that shooting off a leg will limit their speed to 40kph. Also do as much as you can to prevent others from hitting your legs as much as possible as lights heavily rely on speed. Avoid streak srm build mechs as they will one-shot you.

Maybe check your stats. Your Impression is prob far of. There is one konstant in every match. Bring this over average, and u can statt to blame the team. Blaming your team is the easy but not rewarding path.
