This would provide the recruit with at least one somewhat viable mech after graduating the cadet grind.

Benefits include:
1) no frustration from buying the wrong mech and screwing up the account on first buy.
2) incentive to complete cadet training and stick around long enough to acquire a liking of MWO.
3) everyone likes free stuff.

The mech should be a light, medium or heavy champion variant. It could be a shortlisted selection of mechs.
