Recently I have been getting the "Failed to find a match" error after searching for a game and having the "searching" message come up.

Not a big deal right? Just search for a match again right? Nope. After searching and searching I eventually get told that I have trigger the penalty system for non participation or "The selected mech is locked".

Clearly the game thinks I am entering into a match despite telling me it can't find a match for me.

Thoughts?

Hi there, Kaptain... Sorry to see that you're having breakage with finding a Match to play. Did you try selecting another Mech for long enough to enter the Testing Grounds and then return to the MechLab area? If not, then I think there may be a random small chance that you may have accidentally missed a Match locking in even though the MatchMaker wasn't actually giving you an indication that it did. It's either that, or PGI's game server systems have had one heck of a hiccup. :(

Or if they're on Steam, the "Verify Integrity" command... ;)

(By the way, Davegt27, as of when I'm posting this, your Forum Signature is using the wrong protocol and causing my browser to say the page is not fully secure... http vs https... Could you please fix that?)

Packet loss may cause disconnects and make playing MWO or any other online game extremely hard. You can test for it with https://packetlosstest.com/

This is the common reason for connectivity problems that certain players come up with fantastical explanations for. An aging or low quality router can cause it and is fortunately an easy problem to fix by buying a new one, but if loss is caused by some equipment owned by your Internet Service Provider, there might be nothing you can do except complain.

If this is the case you could debug it by using your smartphone as hotspot and trying to connect with it. If this work without problems maybe contact your provider and let them check your connection. For some reason also fixed ipv4 can help with connection/verification.

When that happens I just go back to fallout 1-4 or skyrim for a while.
