Weapon Ideas: Grenade Launcher And Melee Weapons.

So It Would be really cool if they Added in to this game Some more weapons. Some of the weapons I would like are, Grenade Launcher and Melee Weapons.

1) For the Grenade Launcher, I was thinking it would be a Ballistic slot weapon That arcs in the air, And the Projectile would have a Similar Effect to a single shell of artillery.

I'm not sure on what the Stats would be For Balance. What do you guys think?

2) For the Melee weapons, I was thinking of having it so every mech that has Hands, Can equip in that hand a melee weapon Based on the Mech Max Tonnage. I was thinking that Melee weapons can be destroyed Separately from your Mech. And has a HP Value of maybe that of an arm. If you Equip a Melee weapon. You can then Hit a Button to attack with your said melee weapon. Your Mech will then Use an Animation to swing your melee weapon where you or your arms are Pointing. My Idea is, That you can't knock down a mech. But you can use the Melee weapon to damage a Mech. Melee weapons don't take damage from Impacting some thing. But they do take damage from weapons fire of any other kind.

What do you guys think? About melee weapons? Do you have any thoughts or Ideas on how they could be Implemented in to the game? Posted Image And well as, How do you think they should be Balanced?

Some one Brought up some Good points in the steam forums. So I wanted to share them here.

1) I was thinking some thing a bit more close range. But Depending on the arcs of fire. The Mech-mounted artillery pieces Could be a lot of fun. Shooting targets Behind Cover. And relying on Splash damage to hit the target. It would Give a Nice alternative to LRM Game play. Posted Image

2) I did hear about that, But Sadly I was not around for that testing. From what I heared the Biggest issue, was that mechs could get knocked down. So people just started to Play Bumper Cars, And Doggy Piled up, Which made it so it wasn't as fun of a game in a lot of ways. But I believe if they made it so mech can't get knocked down. and that you can only do melee attacks if you are holding a melee weapon. that it would be far more balanced. Also if the Devs wanted to test this. They could repurpose the Melee weapon Decor Models for the testing of melee weapon combat. This way you don't have to make new Model assets.

3) The Player Base has Been Increasing recently. Thanks to the resent changed to the game, that the Devs have Made. So there may be a Chance of Revival. Or maybe a "Mech Warrior Online 2" could be Created.

Well, such weapons really are in BattleTech, that's true. However, they are niche weapons weighing 10-20 tons. They are more useful against infantry, battle armor or some vehicles than against other BattleMechs.

I would love to see Melee attacks in MWO, but this is not going to happen. Sorry.

PGI would have to create animations for dozens of 'Mechs and you can not expect PGI to do that.

If you want physical attacks, either play the real BattleTech, MegaMek or the HBS BattleTech:
