So I know the PSR gates open enough to put T1-T2-T3 in the same matches eventually, but you really should not be seeing cadets who are running around in third-person mode in the same matches as people from top-tier competitive teams. Is it possible to have cadets start at Tier 5, or would that mess with the matchmaking system?

PGI designed it that way, so working as intended.

If it makes you feel any better, it's not T3s being put into a T1 match, it's T1s being put into a T3 match after the MM opens up it's throttle.

As for not wanting them there.....dude, they're just there for you to farm. Join a T1 group and farm the noobs. Working as intended.

Shouldn't be hard to tweak the matchmaker so that it never places T1s and Cadets in the same game.

Failing that, start them in T4.

To my understanding:

They loosened the starting matchmaker already so it's +/- 2 tiers.
When the 'gates open' it ignores tier so you can get tier 1-5 in a single match at a low population time.

I think cadets could start in Tier 4 or 5 or so.

I mean, I know this game is dead and all but I'd hope the new player experience is something a little better than "join game, match up against the top 5% on Jarl's List, die immediately, uninstall"

Those that stick around learn to run in some corner to avoid engaging - at least this way they get 5 mins of match time...

EVERYBODY starts as T3. That's why everyone was made T3 in the tier reset. New guys get stuck playing with T1s when the MM loosens up due to low population. The only way they're going to get out of reach of the T1s is to drop to T4. Then they get to be farmed by T2s. Once they hit T5, where they should have been since the beginning, they can only be farmed by T3s.

Again, try to figure out why Paul decided that smack in the middle of the tier scale is where new players belong. If they started at T5, the worst they'd have to face is T3. And those guys don't group up.

To be clear I understand everyone starts at tier 3.
I was agreeing with the suggestion we start cadets lower then established players. It's not reality now but we should.


Matchmaker at it's loosest allows everyone in one pool - am I incorrect in that?

If it was for me i would keep t1 players in their own little world where they can play mini mechs to hug assault mechs, spam arties, boat 8 lbx2 and leave the rest to enjoy the game.

My most fun times were when i started my IS account, people did pay more attention to the game and it was fun
