To me, the best part has been to watch the vaunted T1s struggle to finish the challenge as solos in trial mechs, only to get frustrated, group up and farm everyone else with their meta builds.

The trial mechs fit in nicely with the garbage play style of the soup que. The fits are so bad nobody even notices.

The event is not that bad. The issue is the matchmaker being specially good in grouping ALL the trial mech in the same team, and doing it again and again... There is people dumb enough to try to do the event in teams of trial mechs, but not enough teams of fools to explain the "Strange coincidence"... Some builds in trial mechs are just viable, specially in clan Mech- others are really a challenge.

Knocked the event out in just under 4 hours. Would have been a lot quicker, but skills mix was absurd in a few drops. Added to which, tier trolls bringing meta builds to what should have been a fun event. We know (C) mechs can be unbalanced, certainly there are no utility uav/cool shot or arty strikes (number of times I hit my arty launch key and . . . . nothing . . /sigh), but en mass can make for some interesting fights; think the only mech I had trouble with was the Myst Lynx and that was because I was too aggressive :P

Did the event make me want to buy a champion mech, no, not really. The only one I had was the Enforcer and that build was very different to the stock loadout and was either an event prize or random alcohol based purchase from sometime long in the past.

Fast easy event that didn't involve having to buy something to take part in - something it finally appears PGI has learned about.

Whole freaking website of builds that could be used as the trial mechs. Barney-style copy and paste. Wont drag the team down and make players hate life. Never force things on your customers that they do not want. Specially now that your PSR can tank if you do this event. Nope.

Could just do what I have been doing with this event. It's slow going but it ensures you keep your psr. Do a trial mech, if your psr doesn't change or goes up keep using the trial mechs until event completion. If you lose psr, switch to a mech you have experience with and farm the psr back up in a match or two. It's what I have been doing and my psr bar stays full.

Honestly I'm really enjoying it.
It wasn't the usual 'play my normal mechs with maybe slight load out changes until I hit all the benchmarks' that most events were. Certainly is an improvement from 'make sure everyone brings as much LRMs and AMS as possible' that some events degenerate into.

I had to try out mechs and playstyles I don't normally do and had a lot of fun with some of them while deciding I could get into that playstyle (phoenix hawk, kodiak, enforcer and jaeger were surprisingly enjoyable to me) Catapult was also amusing.

I'm _not_ going to complete all the challenges as clearly there are a few mechs that I can't get anything out of - a couple of 60 damage games in the undergunned lights.

Also meant the opposition was changing up their meta at the same time which was refreshing.

Horrible matches because of all the team damage caused by greedy players trying to finish a **** event. I've taken so much team damage and a couple TK's now over it. I hate events because of this crap.

But your thread title says “worst event ever”. I understand that you do not like events, but what makes this event the “worst ever”?

In my opinion this is an event with generous rewards that doesn't require particularly high skill to complete, all you have to do is play and it’s very likely that one will eventually complete all the requirements before it ends.
Good event for players who like swag, perhaps not so good if your focus is PSR.

Good hunting,

I did just enough to get the mc rewards then went back to my owned mechs. As much as I hate the (c rap) trials I think a second rvn 3l would be nice if I were to get back into unit/fw/cw-not-solo play. Pretty sure I have enough hsp to max that out instantly or whatever xp is used on mechs. Maybe they should do an xp combined event instead of seven or what ever number of types of xp just have it so all xp applies during that event.

Quality of matches is very low during this event. Long queues. Players vote for bad maps (first sign of bad match). Lose streaks. Especially in heavier 'Mechs. Got very long lose streak in IS Jagger, while it's one of my favorite 'Mechs. Still can't get any Clan Assault win since yesterday. About 10 loses in a row, I guess. This pushed me from ~20% Tier 3 to Tier 4.

But good thing - with new PSR my rating drops, so all this loses aren't pointless, as it was back in old times, so I'll compensate this loses by good matches in a future.

Some of the trial mechs ain't that bad. First time I even used a trial mech was because of this event. Even got that achievement "less green more mean"

Horrible matches why? Because players play stock trial builds?

Stock mechs and lower DPS aren't the issue. It's the desperation of those players -- overreaching in a suicidal manner in order to get a kill or KMDD.

It's bad because the trial mechs are bad. I finally finished the Clans, but I was fed up after getting smashed in that idiotic Kodiak 5-6 games in a row. And what's with the 4 spl Misty? In any case, I gave up. No way am I running those IS trials.

this event is terrible. i think i lost half of my full tier 1 bar due to this bs.

grinded out the clan side, and after taking a week off to recover from the QP filth, finally trying the IS side. First match, took the trial highlander and was the only assault on my side. nice.... did less than 200 damage and was pecked off by lights/medium in the endless rotato potato.

NOPE. not going back.

Well, I had a somewhat positive experience with playing these trial mechs - at least, it didn't feel terrible. I was able to do them all on a single afternoon on my T3 alt account (dead center, didn't play this since the reset). 28 matches total for the 16 mechs. I see it as an achievement, that I even slightly gained in PSR (really only a tiny bit). Some of these mechs are really hard to play (looking at you, Mist Lynx!) and require a change in playstyle from what you are used to in skilled and fitted mechs.

I just skipped the entire event because if I don't like it I don't have to play it and I am still happy and not a bit salty.

Didn't do the event, sounds like work.

Doh I did play during the event which allowed me to play some not meta mechs and playstyles what with all the crappy champion mechs about.

Stuff like Dual ER Large Laser cheetah, Splat Huggen, UAC10 Huggen, Triple UAC10 Asp etc bad but during the event OK.

PGI is trying to make people buy the event mechs so they aren't forced to run the mediocre default builds.

As evidenced by the same champion mechs in the event being on sale.
