Did the big feature update for windows 10 today. Lost around 40% of FPS. Down from an average of 45, minimum of 30 or so previously when brawling to 30 normal and as low as 10 when brawling. It's a bit annoying. By which I mean unplayable. Every driver for everything up to date.

i7-6700
GTX1070 with a mild overclock
16GB RAM
Playing at 1920x1080.

CPU and graphic usage aren't even hitting 100%. It's not using the integrated graphics, using the 1070. Gone through standard workarounds - lowered a lot of in game settings and that's not making any difference at all which is odd. Turned Win10 game mode 'off'. Closed everything else in the background. Restarted multiple times. Lowered game settings even more.

I'm getting 60-70FPS in 'Shadow of War' still, it seems be to a MWO specific problem. Getting <30fps in the mechlab even.

It doesn't help that I have to wait ages for matches to check any changes, but tryng to play like this I'll back to tier 2 sooner or later, so that will fix that problem at least.

Any help appreciated.

No problems here since upgrade to last Win 10 release; however, have you checked NVidia settings - 3D Settings - Global Settings to see if CUDA-GPU has been selected as [ALL] and that it reports the right gpu? Also, Win updates have this wonderful random ability to change your PC's power settings to balanced, rather than running in performance mode which can cause throttle back.

Removing NVidia drivers via safe mode and reinstalling can help as well, even if you have the most up-to-date drivers instead of allowing the NVidia Experience application to manage them can still leave behind inconsistencies.

Thanks for that. Went through all that and everything looked okay. I took the opportunity to turn off triple buffering though while I was in there and that seems to have made it playable again.

As a reminder, default Windows 10 updates will also update drivers, including GPU/sound drivers which can become furbar. If you had jumped through the few hoops to turn off Windows driver updates, any major windows update can (and has for me at least 2x) reactivate the windows driver updates. And besides lower FPS rates, it also resulted in actual game crashes, something I rarely experience normal w/MWO activity.

And agree with MummyPig about the Windows Power Settings reverting to Balance or Power Saving (primarily laptops) mode on major updates.
