My vote goes to the Exterminator. It's fast, sleek, and the original has Predator-tech. Better still, canon states that it was put back into production in 3007.

You don't want to stand where one of those is. Ever.

Failing that, the slightly lesser enemy Crabs.
Props to the Flashman and Black Knight as well, if only because they only getting better with age and weapon refits.

While the Mongoose earned my vote, other notable machines include:
Crab: A medium with good speed, armament, and armor. It had a bit of a heat curve, but nothing that couldn't be managed.
Executioner: Headhunter who's weapons load was only marginally weaker then the Guillotine's, but was far faster then it. Sometimes, the job needed to be done and an Executioner could do it.
Flashman: 15 double heat sinks on that array of laser weapons is frightening. It could fire all the large lasers without pause. Even worse, when one finally got within range of those medium lasers, It could fire all of them with two of the light lasers and eat mechs. with its 86kph speed, one might as well strip off the rear-facing medium laser, the flamer, and one of the large lasers for a PPC so that you can compliment its medium range volley a lot better. Hey! That array sounds familiar! Too bad the Black Knight didn't have the Sinks for it.
Crockett: A healthy array of weapons with the sinks to handle them. Another of those 'Crit Seeking Nightmares' older pilots try to scare younger pilots with at night. Its combination of LBX 10 AC and ER Large Lasers give it a ranged hole punch that rivals most others, and once you had holes, one would simply switch to cluster rounds and move in with the paired SRM-6s. Despite being slow, its maneuverability was augmented with jump jets. Dangerous in urban environments.
Highlander: Just as maneuverable as a Crockett, but definitely more of a fire-support machine. LRM-20 paired with the rare Gauss Rifle made it a machine to be heeded, lest it behead you from across the field. As another forum goer put it...
