Greetings all! For over a year now this game has not received any new content, and it seems unlikely that it will since all focus has been shifted to MW5. I for one don't like this, and I do not approve of a lot of business decisions that PGI has made lately but I respect their right to do what they think is best for them. Correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe it has been stated that no new mechs will be added.

This leads me to propose a simpler approach, why not add new variants of mechs that already exist? I for one would love to see pods for Summoner G or Q (pretty much the same pods), which is a variant that uses no tech outside of what already exists in the game. Do you agree with this approach? Which mech variants would you like to see added with the tech already in game?!

2/3 of variants in the game are not used. Why add more?

Because variety is never a bad thing, that's like saying why play MWO when there are better games out there? Because people like different things, it is that simple.

I think new variants would only make sense if they come with new tech so that you get some new guns or what not with the new chassis. Else I see it like letir we have more then enough chassis.

Minor exeption I could think of is if the variant offers something no other variant or other mech would offer but I highly, highly doubt that you would find something like that with the amount of mechs and variants we have.

[Edit]
Variaty can be a bad thing when you have to much. People, espacialy newcommers, get overwhelmed by everything that is allready in the game.
I had newcommers that opend the mechbay and left the game because there was just to much to choose from.
Sure its gated by how much money you have at the start but still finding the right weapons or mechs when you hardly know the game is just terrible. Most games let you start with very few things...MWO shoves everything in your face from the start.

I think it'd be neat if PGI brought over the Bull Shark from HBS.

That would be cool, but sadly unlikely, still I'm up for being pleasantly surprised!

Variety for the sake of variety is a bad thing. There is usually 2-3 viable variants per 'Mech, and some of them - like Flea 19 - are thoroughly pointless in the MWO, meta or not. It would be better if PGI revisited variants (and 'Mechs) which they killed with balance attempts.

New 'Mechs with new models, hardpoints, agility numbers? Yes.
New "variants"? Lasy cash-grab at best.

You could add literal trash into the game and you'd still see a spike in players wanting to try the new stuff out. Update cycles are massively important for games like this because it keeps people coming back.

I was pretty happy when the two new-er catapults were added. BB and C2. I just need to play them to get them up to the xp levels my other cats have. Jester use to be my lowest xp with 91 nodes done and 50,000 xp from playing it after.

Variants really won't add much if they get the 5v treatment but if they add on ones that are different like the cats were it just depends on people's fave mechs.

Urbie IIC is all the game needs.

As long as I can paint it pink and have flashing lights anyhow.

Quads........and after that we welcome our new overloards the superheavy tripod mechs !
Most likely to big to fit into canyon or solaris maps.....and somewhere I can hear someone scream "Heretic" ^_^

Anyway I would love to see the game advance to the Jihad era. New Mechs, new tech and in my dreams they add well worked out AI enemys for FP for a new PvE mode against the Blake guys and we come all together, no matter the faction, to just smash'em.
Except for the one dude in that greets you all the time with "May Blake be with you"...that is if he still plays ^_^

I'm up for a Jihad update in MW:O. My body is ready for the Toyama.

I'd love to see new mechs too! *drools in Jupiter* but this is very unlikely sadly :(

Let's try to stick to the topic and choose VARIANTS of mechs already in game. :3

Well like someone already stated in the thread, MW:O is already over saturated with plenty of variants for players to choose from. What would make newer variants interesting would be an advance in the timeline aka the Jihad era, which I highly doubt PGI is willing to go forwards with since they displayed no interests in continuing development of MW:O. I think new mechs, new tech, and new variants are only going to be possible if PGI were to release the source code to maybe a bunch of trusted community members. Maybe then they can get their hands on models, assets, coding, etc. in order to make new content for the game.
