They got forced to delay MW5 release by 3 months cause epic didn’t want borderlands to have competing releases in September. They also got enough cash to refund all the cancelled steam preorders and make a beer run for the MW5 launch party.

I might not even bother pre-ordering on steam now... Work has been keeping me busy for the past 8 months thanks to Epic's Friends and Shareholders that are from CHINA... I'm sure you can guess why I said that. No surprise there.
BTW remember this blunder?

Just buy it when it releases. No upfront money
If nothing else, look for mods that enhances the gameplay first.

It got russ and paul more money. It got mwo a few more years of servers being left on. Other than that it did nothing for mwo.

There was no tie in with fortnite. Whatever mech abomination that was in fortnite had zero to do with MW5. The mech doesn't even look remotely like any other MW5 mech (maaaaaaybe the nova cat, but that isn't in MW5). Heck you'd be better off claiming it was some kind of bizarre Titanfall tie in. Whoever told you that is drinking same weird *** koolaid.
It was absolutely 100% co-incidence that within 2 days of MW5 getting moved to Epic as an exclusive and splashed all over their advertising that the big season reveal for Fortnite was a mech. Totally 0 chance of any marketing effort there and just a bizarre alignment that the company could not have in any way planned.
Okay. Sure, I'll buy that idea. I have a bridge I would like to sell you, real cheap.
