It's not a story, it's a documentary. Because it's factual.

PGI were barely developing the game when it was in full swing. The hope that they'll do anything, let-alone anything interesting while it's on life support is... optimistic.

If you watch the vlog, they are open to see what direction the community wants to take the game. It is not on "life support", they are working with the community on what to do next.

The best what we can hope for is that they will keep the lights on.

Converting maps to be procedural would make drops more dynamic, and be somewhat of an equalizer for people who don't play as much. Dropping on the same maps over and over you start to understand the strategy of the particular map, if they changed this would add an element of newness to each drop.
It won't benefit 12 vs 12 Solo Quickplay with random team mates.
With random team mates every player must understand the map and it's best way to play (were to nascar).
How many times you lost a game because a team mate has done something stupid, like going capping in Conquest?
With random maps this would happen much often.

The random team mates is exactly what would make this a good idea. Instead of chance that you get the most people familiar with the map, everyone would be on the same footing.
