I love this game but I get bad migraines triggered by the critical damage warning lights. Is there any way to tone these down?

Unfortunately, not really. Not even sure that Nightbird's proposal...

...can actually help you. If it does, great... but I'm not holding my breath.

If you, mytilus edulis, want a real fix for this, then you will probably have to...
  • Contact your Doctor and have a proper exam done
  • Assemble the appropriate paperwork from what happens in the above step
  • Contact a Medical Lawyer
  • Assemble even more appropriate paperwork from working with them to gather what is necessary
  • Contact PGI Support, either by yourself or with the Medical Lawyer's assistance... and it might be better to let the Medical Lawyer do it for you
  • Litigate PGI into having to fix MWO by adding functions which accommodate people with issues related to flashing lights
...because this is likely what it will take in order to get any real support for people with severe visually-related problems. But, I will leave that up to your discretion. I may indeed be going too easily in the direction of a "Nuclear Option" idea. Until you find a solution that succeeds in your not getting migraines anymore, I will hope that things progress in a direction helpful to you. :(

There should be a disclaimer that flashing lights in game may cause issues for sensitive viewers, at that point tough ****. You'll never be able to litigate this successfully and historically people who have tried have lost, the lawyer wins though, [redacted]

Aaannnyywwaayy, regarding original post, the sunglasses thing isn't that silly. Maybe try blue tinted glasses, or play in a room with the lights on instead of the dark looking at a screen, of the light makes it hard to see, you can increase the screen brightness, but the ambient lighting should help. I also play at 60 fov like mentioned above and it does reduce what's going on in cockpit, (unless u already do that) other than that you have little recourse, video game manufacturers don't really have to cater to your individual aches and pains, they don't make it easier for say a physically disabled player, they sort of have to do it for themselves mostly.

Lol.

Calm down, guys...Try to only attack the idea, not the person who is posting it in the early morning after having a bad nightmare involving Spiders (the bug, not the Mech) on them. It was only an extreme edge suggestion, and probably isn't actually necessary to follow. I did put a little bit of a disclaimer on that, albeit potentially veiled. And you're right in saying that goes out the window if PGI takes the time to update their Game Client's launch cycle and ToS to reflect this. :(

Which reminds me... How did some get their hands on that "Hearing Impaired" title which is visible to all of us in the in-game interface? How did it even get created in the first place, being as any company in the world does not actually have to cater to the deaf? I wonder what that took some people? Personally, I just wanted to see some justice for mytilus edulis on this issue, since those of us with shaky hands can not get any.

I'd really like for the override warning blinking giant red text to be less obnoxious.

That's something which you and I can definitely agree on. There are more important Warning Messages to display anyway, or all of them should be rendered at the same size so that up to three of them can show at once on the top. Hmm... three Warning Messages at once... That could be helpful... Maybe that would be something worth starting a Feature Suggestion Thread about? B)

The warning horn when you get critically damaged stops after a few seconds, I wonder if PGI could implement the same thing for the flashing lights and message if they can't program the ability to override/cancel them.

Weird that you can't since the ability to do it has existed in aircraft for decades.

Maybe it's lore...

Hey, does anyone else remember when PGI shut down the colorblind-friendly HUD mod?

Yeah, they're definitely a compassionate company when it comes to accommodating players with medical issues that interfere with their ability to play.

Which goes of for a sec or so.. not the whole time they are firing. And they don't strobe like a disco ball.
