Premium Time is something that I feel could be improved upon in MWO.

Compared to other another highly successful f2p game which will remain nameless, the premium time benefits seem a bit lackluster in MWO.

In the game I played before MWO, premium time would give you access to a few easy daily missions for a nice boost to credits or xp for minimal effort, and one of these missions would reward you with a special currency that you could use to purchase special equipment. In MWO that special equipment could be unique skins, even unique mechs or cosmetics.

Cumulative Premium Time could also be a way of unlocking certain unique skins or warhorns or free mechs. For example, after a month of having premium time you would be rewarded a item, after 3 months another, 6 months and so on.

PGI hands out enough free premium time that non-paying players seem unlikely to feel like they are totally locked out of these rewards.

What are some ways that you would improve Premium Time?

First thing with pt I'd do is make it active only when you are loged into the game. Why spend money on some thing that runs out just because I'm at work or some place other than in front of my pc? I didn't bother with the pt from founders for a very long time then just decided i'd burn it all since pgi is always going derp we need money or mwo is gona die so I'd better use it while I could.

I'd also raise it up to 75% c-bills and mech xp bonus while still allowing to stack with hero mech bonuses. It takes an eternity to skill up a mech to 91 points. Half the fun of the game was trying new bulds but since the skill maze you need those 91 points to make the most optimal version of a build possible. Now I don't bother to try different builds on mechs. In the worst case you'd have to burn most of those 91 skills just to make a bad mech use-able such as bumping 40 into mobility on an assault because it has the worst acceleration and deceleration in all the assault class aka the atlas vs all other is assaults.

This is a good idea. Even if you made it 100% bonus to cbills and xp earned, it doesn't make the game any more p2win and you make premium time more valuable.

That's because there are two opposing interests in play: The MWO players wanting to get most bang for their buck and PGI willing to provide just enough advantage so the players would keep buying the PT.

Well, and in MWO the PT gives you a nice C-Bill and XP boost for a minimal effort ...

As for a special equipment: All equipment is available to everyone in the Mechlab and I think that this is a good thing. No special equipment behind the paywall.

PGI has a different approach and uses its Loyalty programme to reward their customers depending in how much cash they spent on MWO. The more money you spent in the previous year, the better rewards you get - including standard and Hero 'Mechs.

Solving the problem that I win the PT on Sunday evening and it ticks away on Monday and Tuesday without me even using it.

I too side with the 'only active while playing' aspect.
I know it doesn't work with their current system, and probably difficult to change while everyone has it banked in varying amounts without either OVER rewarding some, or pissing off others.

But to be honest.... if I buy 1 day... its worth 1 to 3 hours of actual play to me. But others will play for 10hours. Good for them.... but it means I'll never invest in any decent amount of it, and HOPE that I'll be free to keep playing.
At least now I can stagger opening loot bags... if I have active PT, I won't open any more for fear of activating a 2nd day. In the past, it opened as currently running. Great... when it happens on your last match on a Sunday and you're gone at work/school till after it runs out.

Nothing else has ever bothered me about it. I mean, they can ALWAYS give you more stuff. Everyone likes being given more stuff.
Maybe a small amount of MC in relation to CBills earned?
