Why is this a " Special " mech?

In the mech bay, it does not show up on the Champion or Hero filter, only the Special filter.

Why does it not earn extra XP or CB?

I bought it... ?!?...

Just got one not to long ago LOVE IT!!! 4 heavy meds a Narc launcher and ECM works well for me. I run it like over sized support light

beer fridge of doom is a very underrated mech imho. if you ignore for a second its minimal podspace its pretty damn fast and agile for an omnimech. that podspace comes back to bite ballustics users in the buttocks. but if you want a laser boat you are in luck. i even have a hit and run srm boat that works pretty well. its a good hit and run mech in either config.

Meh, the only place Ice Ferrets ever worked was tabletop, and even then there were better chassis to choose from.

Could be worth mentioning to any potential new Ice Ferret pilots out there that the PRIME has a built in -15% Energy Heat quirk in the CT (which is not tied to the set bonus, but can't be swapped out either). so the PRIME variant may be the better choice to start your builds with.

OK but for the same speed and better armament you can have an Incubus 4 with 4HML and 1HLL, plus a far nicer profile. The Fridge is a pile of crap lol.

Not really the Fridge is not huge for 45 ton mech and has the armor of 45 ton but runs more like a light mech. It's not really that much bigger then the Incubus but much better armored. I just looked in the mech lab and the fridge is only a tiny bit bigger in profile really

By profile I meant that Incubus mounts its weapons high, sorry should have been clearer.

I need to say that it has been so long since I have been away from MWO It took me a while to find the +30% C-bills info on the variant.

That being said, the Ice Ferret is one of my favorite mechs in the game. It makes a fantastic long range, hit and run sniper. It's hard to spot way out against a hilly horizon.

I honestly believe it is one of the most underrated mechs. It's looks are so non threatening and strange that people ask if you are delivering their mail. I can't tell you how many times people have just pasted right by me without even firing a shot.

True, it is a fragile mech, but there in lies the challenge. If I can get a few kills, support my teammates with kills, and survive the match, I feel like I accomplished something.

Put me in a Hunchy or Ferret any day and I will have an exhilarating match.

There is a reason they call it an Ice Ferret and not a Fafner.
