The biggest problem with the game is low population, and they only add 1 map to the new list of game updates? thats it? 1 map? 1? as in single? as in numero uno? news flash : people left the game because it got stale. why did it get stale? dropping on the same maps in quickplay over and over again.

Daeron, if your reading this... you need at least 1 new map every 3 months and on top of that you need to come out swinging with at least 5 new maps at once so all the old veterans and people who left will get super excited and come back just to have fun with NEW CONTENT. Its the only way, keep all the maps you have, add classic Terra Therma back and release as many maps as your studio can dish out, and if you think you released enough, release some more while your at it.

This game needs excitement, adrenaline, and new maps is the only way to do it. I could go without the rest of the changes honestly, more maps would give players new and old a reason to keep playing, we got enough mechs and balance changes already. /rant over

game needs maps.

a new map and huge cost cuts in the store and they could keep this train wreck afloat for another year. maybe dont go to sea in a train next time.

They need a whole new map system or a faster way to make the maps. For example if they can pull the mesh and textures out of mw5 map generator that would be great.

Wrong. 0 new maps. It's just a list of possible choices they will take, most options will be crossed out in 6 weeks.

hell a new map would be huge. it would prove that pgi is no longer in maintenance mode and is actually capable of giving a damn.

PGI has stated in the past a new maps comes at a 6 digit expense - i feel a 6 digit investment at this point is rather unlikely until someone volunteers to do it for free and PGI has to shoulder only some "administrative" expenses.

Time will tell what solution they may have for that...

MW5 is UE4 engine ,MWO is a old Version (3,1) from Cryengine ...thats like you try to build a Shipsengine in a Bike, very different systems and no experts for the old Cryengine

Problem for Maps

The cost of 25000 is for the hours of work of a well paid programmer who has been working on a map for a long time, including bug-finding and fixing, but as the last maps show, PGI doesn't even have good experienced people for that anymore, because Rubelite with its 3 textures -Hey , there are layer and brush functions in the editor of the Cryengine) or the model railway city Solaris were rather practical works ,and since you can't even prevent that your great climbsystem causes a pebble to slow down a 1000 t atlas or you can't bring the collision system (Knock Down) and IK back into the game, nothing will happen at MWO

I have no idea with the source of this statement, that sounds ridiculous to me (USD100,000 would be good for production cost of an entire indie game, if not a few), if that is in fact the case, I am pretty certain that new map is not going to happen after all.

I don't think, new map is so important. CS has Dust 2 and it's enough. If new maps won't be good, nobody will vote for them and it would be same waste of time, as long list of most recent maps, like River City, Forest Colony, Polar Highlands, Terra Therma, etc.

Doesnt matter what engine it is. A texture is a texture, a mesh is a mesh. You can use the unreal engine to make a mesh to use in cryengine in the same way you can use maya or 3d max to make a mesh.

It wouldn't be a direct drop in map but it should increase the speed of making the map.

Only issue I don't know about is if there is some legal junk that might get in the way.

Over all my point is they need to make the tools to make maps and stop making each map by hand.

Dunno I strongly feel any map development time would be more cost-effectively spent by improving already existing maps.

The game actually has a good number of maps, but some are virtually never voted.

The hallmark of this game is massive development effort on content few players ever see. (FP maps only played by a select few, Solaris maps virtually noone).

With Solaris maps I'd think really hard about a game mode that fits the maps and people would actually agree to play. 8-man free-for-all with rapid respawns, brought out during casual weekend events? Just spitballing, but try to do SOMETHING with all that content

Not opposed to a new map especially if it plays as well as Rubellite, but I'd definitely leverage the existing stuff more.

Yep. I kinda question why they would even bother listing. Maybe they're just waiting for the Steam Release, so once there's a cash infusion from the Steamers, they can just safely ignore us.

With low population, noobs gets churned out by vets who know how to play the game which leads them to quit. And there is low population because they won't stay.

The Catch-22.

You act as if the new map is a done deal. In reality, what we have is a promise of a new map. Sort of like the promise of swappable ammo for LBX autocannons that never happened.

If a proven liar tells you something and you believe it, who's fault is it? The liar or the idiot that believed him?

PGI needs to make money with this game and they might be luring a few inactive players back to the game with a new map but that's not gonna make them drop lots of cash on the game espeically not in the long run.

The truth in a nutshell : MWO is sort of doomed.

The long version,
Those who still have faith with the game should realize the facts. The game is pretty much dead in its current form. It have little elements to retain current players, and the new players experience is bad enough to drive out 99%+ of potential newcomers. There are no easy way to "fix" the situation, the game is simply seriously lacking to bring new blood to the game, and unable to treat them properly, retaining them for monetization.

PGI could,
(1) Perform a major overhaul of the game mechanism, including grinding and game balance, UI improvement and so to retain existing players; and/or

(2) Adding new contents to the game, including new maps, new mechs, new game modes, technology advance (XXL engine and so), which would attract inactive players to return and try new things out.

Unfortunately, either way involve significant commitment in men power and capital investment, I doubt PGI and Russ would consider investing significant amounts of resources on a 7 years old dead horse, therefore in my eyes MWO is pretty much dead.

What promise? The post clearly says the list is only a list of suggestions our community manager will bring up with PGI. That is all. Update in 6 weeks on which ideas will be implemented. Where in there is a promise of a new map?

One new map is not gonna attract huge amount of players.
They need at least 5 to get some former players back and a lot more to get new people.

granted im not expecting miracles. its more a keep what you got strategy than a draw in new players strategy. new map might also draw back old players who moved on.

bringing in new players and keeping them would require a multi pronged approach, some npe, grind reduction, and anti-farm measures. perhaps yet another round of mm tweaks (which a lot of existing players are tired of). i dont think that is compatible with pgi's plan to do one or two things on the list. and i have my doubts about them being able to do that much.

you can converted the handcrafted Modules from the UE4 MW5 to MWO , all other ist in MW5 generated form the engine.

try to bring a New 3DSMax Scene or builded Object, bcreated with new engine Features, in a Old 3DS Max version (3 or 7) form 3DSmax Posted Image ...you becomes a Error message. you can bring Objects from older Engines to newer Versions, the other Way back is most closed while to many new Features and formats.
Im use many Versions of Vue, you can not open Scenes or Objects created in Vue 2015 in Vue 7 for example or can most not use or open a Object.3ds created in 3DSMax 2017 in 3DSMax 7.

We reading over al old Cryengine 3.1 (heavy modified) and the new UE4 Engine.

It's not a list of game updates. It's a list of topics that the MWO players can discuss they way they have done for the last 8 years.

Maybe Russ Bullock will pick the new map suggestion ... and maybe not. And even if he does, do not expect that map to be completed any time soon.

Then you save it as another format or you convert it. Other than a corrupt file i have never not been able to open a 3d file.

Over all these are programmers not end users. There are no limits. Every other company in the world can make tools to make maps so can they.
