To the Devs:
The following post is completely subjective as it is from my own personal point of view.
Warning: this is a RANT post.
The March 16, 2021 patch version 1.4.239.0 for me has been a complete NERF (in relation to enjoyment) .
Now let me preface that I am not talking about game balance, as I am in no shape or form able to judge balancing issues due to my limited knowledge of the game.
Instead, I want to tackle this from a different aspect. MechWarrior Online (I assume) is a game, and meant to be fun.
For the past month, almost two, I have enjoy this game quite immensely... up until this current patch has launched. After the patch launched, I quite literally no longer enjoy playing MWO and am greatly considering taking a break until the upcoming PTS. (Taking breaks from games is fine, especially with how many games are out there to play).
1) I primarily enjoy playing Gauss Type Weapons. I have tried other weapon systems, but the whole enjoyment of playing MWO for me was shooting Gauss. I like the feel, the sound, everything about the gauss, I find enjoyable (well at least pre-patch).
Now, the long wait times + charge mechanic create an incredibly boring wait time between each shot. It is quite literally more boring to play (for me).
Normally, I do not mind the charge up mechanic, but combined with the increased cooldown timer makes for a very boring playstyle.
2) Among mech types, I primarily enjoy playing big lumbering slow mechs like the Assault and sometimes Heavy class mechs. While "Nascar" has always been a problem, it was at least manageable pre-patch.
Ever since the new patch dropped, it is almost a certainty that the slower moving assaults, (like the Direwolf or Annihilator) will be left behind to fend for them selves.
I am going to assume this is due to players needing to adjust to the new PPC changes- so they have to run to a more terrain jumpable, terrain defendable location? I have no actual idea why since I do not actually play PPC's, so I do not understand why this shift in gameplay has occurred.
Sure, I could probably mitigate this by doing group drops, but solo play should be a viable option when playing any type of mech in this game. But currently, (at least at my current skill level) it is absolute suicide 9 out of 10 games, do solo que as an Annihilator.
In conclusion, for me, this patch has extremely diminished the level of fun I was experiencing. I can only assume that I am not alone in feeling this way. For me personally, the FUN has been completely NERFED into the ground.
I am sure there are people who enjoy this patch more then previous iterations of the game, and there are probably people who are indifferent... but for me, this patch is definitely less fun than it was previously.

I get it. As I've said in other posts: play style. If Gauss or PPC is all you ever use, this patch will hit you harder than the rest of us.
Gauss builds are a lot of "wait for it... wait for it... BLAM!" Only now you get more of both. So if the "wait for it" is getting under your skin now, may I humbly suggest you look into the AC/5 in the ultra- or regular variety? Two of them is similar space and tonnage, a similar play style, and a bit less BLAM but a lot less "wait for it". Give it a shot before quitting.

Thank you for your suggestion. I have tried dakka, in the past and recently, and while I did get more damage per game, it was not as fun for me as gauss was.
For me personally, I like the sound, and the feel of the Gauss along with the visual aspect of the projectile. It is the overall presentation of the Gauss Rifle family of weapons that I like.
I am sure I can do better overall match scores with ac/5, uac5 and uac10 but they just are not enjoyable weapons for "me".
It all comes down to preference, and when I came into MWO a month or so ago, I was amazed how diverse the weapons were. I would join games and see pilots running all sorts of different weapons and mech chassis and I was having a blast. (I did see some weapons used more frequently then others but still, it was still a very diverse playing field).
While it is true that I made account many years ago and played in the beta, but I never really had fun so I only played a few games here and there. But after playing MW5 (due to xbox game pass), I came back to MWO sometime in February and instantly fell in love with the game.
While the charge mechanic is different from how Gauss plays in MW5, it was not to hard to get used to so I adapted to MWO's version of Gauss Rifle. But now- after the patch... for me... its just... its just not fun anymore...
Once again, I am speaking from personal preference. I totally understand everyone has different tastes. That is ok, I just wanted PGI to know my views... to hear my voice on the matter.

I feel it shows a large disconnect between the tiers, Tier 4 and 5 are not the same game as tier 1 and 2.. The meta customers are not the same as the newer and casual customers..
And it shows an even larger disconnect between the players and the developers..
