IMO the Dark Ages was a misstep in the lore. I don't mind if MWO never covers it. It'd also be really challenging to balance, since the whole point of Dark Age was another tech regression with lots of regions being cut off from each other and a lot of mechs being cobbled together using basic/ non battle rated tech.

IllKhan is looking more promising, but we haven't finished the Civil War or the Jihad yet.

Still better than repeating 3050 for the 80th time.

Lore wise, it was just the next logical step.
WOB is bouncing back and attacks all at once under the auspices of comstar, AGAIN. (or devilin stone, depending on who you ask)
Intrigue, mech fights, lots of NSFW times. The dark ages were a good read for me.

Gaming wise, I kinnnnda agree, but the darkages were basically the jihad PART 2. Honestly, if you look at battletech from a gaming perspective, Kerensky leaving took alot of units off the board, the succession wars allowed for stealthy retcons, timeline changes, and took alot of tech off the board. The Jihad was just a device to stop both the succession wars and clan invasions. The dark ages were more like a combination of the two, only this time, everyone is fighting everyone, everything is on fire, there is a wolf-stiener(?) on the throne of both Ilklan and Lyrian empires, the republic had a conniption fit and walled itself off over the loss of the HPG network, and there is this thru-line story of one idiot stumbling his way across the galaxy and somehow not dying. I mostly kept reading the dark age novels to see what happened to that guy.
