Hey Everybody!

Just for reference in case any new mechs come, I have decided to consolidate my original poll into a new poll for 2021 including the top 5 picks from each category. Only one vote per category this time, so choose wisely! Link below, post discussion points here!

https://mwomercs.com...l-2021-edition/

My personal picks:

Owens - My favorite light didn't make it to the finals. This one is an omni and the other ones don't really interest me.

Men Shen - MASC and ECM in a 55-ton omni with a good mix of hardpoints. Yes please!

Avatar - IS omni heavy. I would hope PGI unlocks the CASE and CT medium lasers, but either way, this 70 tonner sounds like a welcome addition

Sunder - IS Omni 90-tonner, good mobility, and its been one of my favorites since MW3

Locust IIC - The Fire Moth is undoubtedly going to get a ton of attention and I like that one too, but as far as an effective mech for MWO goes, the Locust IIC has a lot to offfer.

Battle Cobra - Something different, locked standard engine. TBH the remaining Clan mediums don't interest me too much.

Black Python - Do we have a 75 ton Clan battlemech? I don't think so... this one sounds beastly.

Kingfisher - 90-ton Clan omni with potentially high hardpoints, an ECM variant, and even though its got a locked standard 360, it has good mobility and Endo/Ferro.

Cheers! Feel free to post your own rationales!

Anvil cause I want an IS linebacker equivalent with ecm and jumpjets. All energy, but IS medium pulse lasers are good so I think it would be a fun *** brawler.

My picks are:

Hollander - Would love to see it but it's going to need some reworking for it to sell. Slap some energy hard points on the base variant and it might be fairly interesting.

Starslayer - I'm liking the high hard points and the name itself sounds badass. I'm sold.

Crusader - Really no reason not to have this mech in game by this point. A classic battletech mech.

Templar - I know it's not a great mech but I love the design and the name. I would go for the Longbow or the Devastator if I could vote for multiple mechs.

Firemoth - Another mech long overdue. Don't care if it's engine capped and the only mech to be missing from the MW2 line up.

Grendel - The clan answer for really good medium mechs that bring something unique to the table. I would actually consider dishing out money for it if it was done right.

Glass Spider - The alternative to the Rifleman IIC and I want to see that over sized radar dish. Would be interested in picking one up if it had good quirks.

Stone Rhino - My first natural choice but would settle with the other options. Think all five clan assault mechs would be great options.

IS Light: Stinger I guess? Wasp is a gimped Commando so no to that one. Valkryie might be a slightly beefier Commando depending on quirks so maybe that one is okay too. Definitely not Hollander because that thing would need omegaquirks the likes of which MWO has never seen before. Normally I would pick the IS Omni when in doubt but the Owens is a new level of useless.

IS Medium: Men Shen because Omnimech. Didn't pick Blackjack Omni because that thing is incredibly slow and has no build variety because it barely has any free critslots.

IS Heavy: Argus because lots of variant variety, high hardpoints, and also because the Avatar sucks.

IS Assault: Hauptmann because Omnimech. Templar not chosen because it won't actually have the high hardpoints of the Battlemaster, just the hitboxes. The hardpoints are what make the Battlemaster work. The Sunder didn't get picked either because of its hitboxes + ISXL = lolno.

Clan Light: Hellion because it's kind of like a Panther IIC with a good blend of attributes. Locust IIC and Urbanmech IIC are good as well. The Fire Moth sucks because it has most of its guns in the very fragile arms that will stick out of cover while you think you can't be seen.

Clan Medium: Either Shadow Hawk IIC or Griffin IIC because the Clans have a lack of 40-45 ton battlemechs and the current Omnis in that range are all built around large engines.

Clan Heavy: Black Python because meta.

Clan Assault: Phoenix Hawk IIC so we have another shot at getting a good Clan 80-tonner (Warhammer IIC flopped hard because of bad agility).

Phoenix Hawk IIC would bring me back for some time.
4x LBX10 Posted Image in an 80 ton mech

Also Black Python sounds interesting especially the shape.
Might be another face tank mech like Marauder IIC.

While stonerhino is cool, it will be sluggish like any other clan 100t mech so meh.

I am genuinely curious as to what the shadowhawk 2c looks like.

I said it when the talk about the 'community mech' first happened and I'll say it now, a PGI original. Avoids the whole issue of people just suggesting their favourite mechs, allows PGI's very talented art team create something interesting and also works as a symbolic gesture to show PGI is once again committed to working on MWO.

gonna have to disagree with the owens. i like the design of it and all, but it really doesn't offer anything besides nostalgia. assuming IS omnis would be subject to the same restrictions as clan, it would need some major god quirks to compensate for the lack of DHS and endo, as well as the locked BAP.

give me the raptor instead.

I forgot about the wonky tonnages of the Shawk IIC and Griff IIC. I'll have to change my answer up above accordingly...

We have the Onion IIC, actually, but the Black Python is still a great choice because none of the existing 75-tonners can megaboat energy like it can. It's practically custom-built for meta, so the only thing that could hold it back is if PGI gimped its agility (which is actually very possible but I'm willing to take the risk here).

I would expect agility similar to the Night Gyr and no better than the Timber Wolf. I knew I was missing something... the Onion IIC. Completely different mechs/roles though so that's not terrible.

Personally there are three things I want:

Urbie IIC - Do I really need to give a reason?
IS Omnis - A necessary gap to be filled
Clan STD engined omnis - I've often heard complaints that our current omnis are "stuck" with a cXL and would like to see some STD engined ones, though I suspect I would be one of only a few who actually uses them.

Depends on which ones we got. I'd try the Kingfisher or even the Stoopid Hawk (Stooping Hawk) but I have little enthusiasm for the Battle Cobra. All you can do on almost every variant is just boat small/medium lasers in low-slung arms that won't last long thanks to the very obvious ST hitboxes.

Could always slap on some armour and mobility quirks. Imagine that, Clan mechs that are agile AND can take a hit.

The downside being you can't carry the fire-power a Clan XL permits.

Yeah my thought as well. If it is small and hard to kill it would be fun, with some weapon quirks for flavor.

Breaks my heart no one is voting for the Turkina. Really think the game should have it as Ironhold's big assault mech.

Why are these IS Light options terrible? Literally un-electable.
