PGI's been pretty adamant about keeping Omni restrictions, so that's a non-starter.

There might be some Omnis that come with IJJs. I'm scouring Sarna and so far found a few:
-Flamberge (year 3077)
-Hierofalcon (3148)
-Wendigo (3135)
-Deimos (3085)

Probably also variants for existing Omnis that have them. So far found the Nova Cat F and Cougar X.

New omi would be nice along with fixing the the not so great ones. Don't take me trying to poke holes in idea's as me dumping on them this is how we fix and make things better and get them working. If you see flaws in anything I say poke away with out mercy

As Fup, the only in-game omnis with IJJ's variants are the Nova Cat F and Cougar X

And unfortunately all the mechs with IJJ variants on the 2021 mech poll are battlemechs:
Griffin IIC, Shadowhawk IIC, Arcas & Phoenix Hawk

Simple and works, I like it but I'm not sure how safe I feel. I run an Osiris at 153kph with jets.

153kph is just shy of glitch territory. If I'm running at that speed, angle forward and hit the jets there's a good chance I could end up going 200kph. I hate to think what that does for HSR, cheat detection and potential lag warping.

Fun? Yes! Safe, maybe not.

would need to have hard limits with how fast you can go. limit max speed to the mech's maximum possible speed. the speed of the chassis with largest possible engine+speed tweak. same for reverse but with the max reverse speed. thats just the cap, whether or not you get there and how fast depends on tonnage, number of jets and jj class, and your skill nodes.

i figure you would just conserve your momentum you had when you jumped, but you would lose speed to drag if you just stayed level. if you needed to stop you would have to pull up, and if you wanted to maintain your momentum or gain speed pitch forward.

I'd like this idea of vectoring JJs. It's always bothered me how stiff JJs became in Mechwarrior since MW3. In lore (and physically) JJs should allow a lot more maneuverability. I used to think JJs were kind of absurd in regards to physics. But as it turns out if you put enough thrust on anything it will fly...

I was surprised how well that worked out. It's a real shame it didn't disconnect.

Wouldn't that literally make lights and mediums almost untouchable to heavies and assaults if they could manoeuvre over them and around their firing arcs.

I imagine manoeuvrability would be far worse than what they have on the ground, alternatively, assaults could diverge their loadout and bring streaks or other weapons suitable for dealing with them.

That obvious huh? Posted Image

Re: maneuverability. I'm not expecting Gundam style super mechs that spend more time in the air than on the ground. But I'd like if jumping backward or sideways were an option, with minor course corrections in air. I don't think a mech should be able to completely change direction, but I feel they should be able to go from traveling at 0* to maybe 15 or 30* to either side with input.

You can already do this, kind of, by adding movement direction before jumping. But jets do need some love RE their useless skill tree. It would be neat to maybe squash some of the nodes from all trees into a "master" skill per tree, which you can only ever get one of for your entire build. Jump jets could get controllable vectoring or eliminated shake.
