Hello everyone!
I´m not sure where to post this, ´cause im aiming more for a general discussion than a "certain-Mech-request".
First Things first:
I don´t think Closecombatweapons like Hatchets will (or should) ever be included to MWO. Right now i see no way or reason to add a closecombatmechanic to the game!
BUT:
I´ll guess there are a lot of Players agreeing that many of those Mechs ( Hatchetman, Axeman, No Dachi) are quite iconic to the MW-Universe. At least I want them in MWO! So if I had to suggest new Chassis to MWO, these would be among my Top 8.
The CQB-Weapons are just a minor Problem to me, because weight and slotsize are known. Add the CCWeapons Tonnage to the free Tonnage of the Mech and we are good to go (At least from my Perspective)!
To me it is a design- or balancedecission if these Mechs come with fixed Slots (like some Clanmechs) to represent the CCWeapon. But for estetics I would include them to the Model. Maby they can be included as a Bolt- or Stayon???
What do YOU think?
I think those Mechs shouldent be of the Table!
Thank you for your attention!

We are unlikely to get more than one more mech into the game, and that one is probably already decided. I doubt they have gone trough the trouble of figuring out a crutch for melee weapons as part of that process.

Well...
I agree...
This is more of a long-term-request. AND I want to see if the rest of the community could live with a solution like stated above...

bolt ons are weapons the same as ams is a weapon. The game had collision and knockdowns once but we all know that happen then. Roll the footage.

Eh let animations be janky it's 3-10 tons swinging around trying to hack off another object
Let arm weapons fire but wherever the arm is aimed to show why you don't fire weapons while swinging melee as well. The random AC/laser swings would be worth the friendly fire incidents :3
Actually bolt on items are half way there: just add in the animations to swing/thrust weapons and give them hp values and this bolt ons would be valid as picked up weapon objects.

Alternatively you just increase collision damage for any mech they run into.

Man, imagine if they got TSM to work as well. All the salt when a Berzerker comes roaring out of a sidestreet in a city map and brutally dismembers some tryhards PPC sniper.
I want.
I want.
