Here's what it could look like...

And also, kinda, what it should have been in the first place..

Make it happen PGI! :D

I think it should be more like arma 3 but mechs instead of all the mil vehicles. Combined mechs with foot and air units.

In this instance though I'm talking about the graphics, the down-to-bolts mechlab, ability so spray-paint your own cammo, and walking around your mech bay on foot.

That's the kind of stuff I want in MWO2..

That's a whole lot of misplaced hope and expectation to PGI, when they haven't even ported MWO in Unreal, nor release MW5 in Steam.

I think the best thing if they made a MWO2 would be updating gameplay mostly to differentiate it from this one.
Update it to a new engine like the Unreal one, take the assets from MWO MW5 and Hairbrains Battletech, for all the mechs tanks aircraft to keep the work low as the models look fine to me.
Biggest gameplay changes I would want to see:
1. Choosing spawn points: at the beginning of the match players can see the map and all its spawn points and choose were to spawn and see where there team has picked so they can all group up or lights can choose to be separate to scout. This can fix the some spawns sucking and can also add variety as you dont know where the enemy team is on the map, since the spawn points are not static.
2. Respawns: like faction play people can choose 4 mechs to bring in a drop deck and select which ones to drop in, this allows the game to be more focused on objectives giving room for support mechs and just different gameplay to murderballing. Plus with choosing spawn points the enemy team cant spawn camp your location for easy kills.
3. More objective game mode: with the ability to respawn the way to win doesnt have to be kill all enemy mechs it could even be that most matches are over before you use all 4 of your mechs. The objective points don't always have to be about gathering victory points there could be radar towers, forward spawn point to allow your allies to spawn closer, and even artillery batteries allowing your team to call in free artillery.
4. Solaris pretty much becomes MWO1: For those that really like MWO1 the solaris mode is updated so it is a mode where you do not respawn and the only objective is to kill the other team. 1vs1 2vs2 and 12vs12 for those that want some good old fashion mech on mech action.
More hopefull changes would be:
5. Add tanks: Dont even have to be able to pilot the vehicles just add AI controlled tanks and Vtols as defenders of objective points so mech pilots have something to destroy and feel big, while also adding in a gameplay element of slowing down how fast objectives can turn by giving some resistance if there are no defending players nearby and giving the defenders warning that enemies are attacking the objective so they can move over to defend.
6. PET TANK BUDDIES: allow players to bring a support vehicle or combat tanks that they can give orders to. Afraid to bring a NARC on your mech cause you dont have an LRM buddy to drop with, just bring a LRM carrier to rain death on those you tag. Dont like playing an assault cause you get left behind bring a heavy combat tank and tell them to follow you and you'll never be alone! Granted this ones more of a silly idea but with would add more targets to the fight and make the battles feel grander with only 12 people. want a UAV that can shoot at people call in a VTOL with a laser!

If yea want an idea what MWO2 might be like just look at Mechwarrior 5. Pretty sure a lot of the work they are putting in to Mech 5 will carry over MWO2

I envision MWO2 to be alot like MW5 actually, especially in terms of walking around your mech bay, landing on randomly generated maps, and being done in Unreal4 or even better, Unreal5, with all the lovely graphical potential of those engines used.

Where I would like to differentiate from MWO and MW5, is that I would like there to be a much bigger emphasis on lore, story telling and on your character, rather than on mechs.

Skilling up would mean skilling up your character, not just an individual mech. Also, you would have deck staff you could hire and skill up, and you would have the option to buy different dropships, not just the Leopard.

You could also have mech-storage bases on planets.

The dropship would include a trophy room for your achievements, and a mechipedia room where you could learn much needed lore about the battletech setting, the mechs and equipment you use, and about the factions and their history.

You would also get news from the front, and missions from faction leadership that would be Coop exclusive. (Meaning you would get 4-12 players playing against Ai bots in hand-crafted missions).

Also, taking planets and holding them would mean that you have access to better mechs and equipment.

You could also not hold massive stables of mechs, you would have limited space for storing mechs. When you buy a mech for real money, you would get that mech delivered to you, but if you don't have the space for it, you would have to get rid of some other mechs.

So the core gameplay would move away from MWO's "get new mech, skill up new mech, toss in storage, get another new mech, wrinse and repeat" but move into actually "living in the setting" and doing some in-game meaningful things.

So, all in all - a generally less e-sporty, and much much more lore-friendly MWO2 would be nice Posted Image

I'd buy THAT game.

I would clone MWO's actual "sit in a mech's cockpit and blow things up" experience as much as possible, but like Vellron says add in a bunch of RPG elements. AND have tanks and aerospace vehicles that you could pilot in certain modes or for certain objectives. Maybe even Elementals for some missions.

Oh, don't get me wrong, "sit in a mech's cockpit and blow things up" would still be core gameplay, but with added RPG elements, fluff and lore..

I agree, it would be fun to pilot tanks and aerospace, as well as elementals, especially in certain special missions..

MWO is still a pretty good looking game but only if you fix it yourself using mrvaads optimization scripts. The biggest issue with vanilla mwo graphics are the lod and other settings being set up for potato pc and never tuned for modern high end systems so there is lots of texture shimmer and object pop in etc etc even set to all very high and it detracts from the actually nice textures and terrain most maps and mechs have.

https://mwomercs.com...de-and-usercfg/

I have a fairly beefy system at least as far as mwo is concerned and further tweaked it for maximum visual clarity.

Drop this in after you install MrVaads stuff and it should mostly clean up the lodding and texture resolution issues especially for distant stuff.

https://www.dropbox....4/user.cfg?dl=0

Hopefully the new owners will have a tech geek go through the engine and tweak it out so it looks and runs better. Nothing really wrong with the cryengine even now but pgi wasn't the best at optimization and focused mainly on getting out new mechs to farm your wallets.

I say all the time that PGI missed out.

Instead of making the... game... that MW5 is, they could have made Mechwarrior Living Legends but on a proper platform.

God can you imagine? 16 v 16 fights on huge maps with respawns, and total warfare instead of just mechs? How nice that'd be.

I would like that. Not impossible really, if you have the right development resources.

I must be in the minority... but if I was to have a wishlist for mwo2...

I would want just a few things:
1) Smaller player count per match. Maybe 8x8? Idk... I am not a fan of 12x12.
2) better optimization. Please less stress on cpu and more gpu bound. (This is probably my biggest issue with current mwo).
3) maybe a different engine... not a fan of Crysis engine.
4) oh and cleaner graphics... yah that would be nice! And possibly better usable viewing space in cockpits.
5) and possibly... an Ai bots mode like horde mode or endless waves... I don’t know, but something to help new players get accustomed to the game instead of just throwing them to the wolves. (And no, a full priced MW5 is not the answer to this... you cannot get a massive infusion of new players into mwo by forcing them to buy a full priced game first).

—- I have played mw5... Personal preference, but I dislike the hud in MW5 (thank goodness to the modding community. Strangely enough, I also dislike the tanks and aerospace.
