The question is, will you be purchasing or passing on this one & why?!

No meaningful changes to the game, no open wallet.

It's that simple.

I can already buy bad mechs in-game for free, why would I pay for the experience?

I was very disappointed about the Dragon. It adds NOTHING and doesn't even look like it can do anything as well as other options on the field, so its likely going to be sitting in my mech bay gathering dust.

You hit a good point, that community voting is great BUT the premise was that we really had to sell PGI on the variants, and I don't see how the Dragon said "Pick Me" in anyway. It was a huge disappointment to see that, there were so many variants listed in that thread that added so much more.

Dire Wolf with ECM
Highlander with ballistics in separate components (but no JJs)
And many more

That being said, I support the direction in releasing these new variants with extras and a 30% C-Bill bonus, and for that reason I already bought it.

BUT PLEASE, don't be afraid to look at what the community is asking for and evaluate what it brings to the table. Even with quirks, I can't see what is going to make it interesting enough to use. Other mechs can spam quirked PPCs and do it with JJs. Other mechs can spam quirked SRM4s. 4 MPL, 2 SRM4? That's a <40 ton loadout.

Thank you for the objective review.

The community votes with their nostalgia not with their brains, they don't look critically at mechs and go "how would this be in MWO?" they just want stuff they like. For example personally I'm a huge fan of the Valkyrie but I'd never kid myself into thinking it'd be a good addition to the game.

Exactly. It's on Daeron and co to filter through that. I bought the pack in good faith that they won't do this again.

And I swear, if the new chassis they pick are Crusader and Mackie I sure as hell will not put down any money.

I would have already had pre-ordered if DWF with ECM was an option. Even if the garbage dragon was the other part of the pack.

...yah... pass.

Call me when the Stone Rhino is ready for pre-order.

Most exciting thing here is the cockpit item with 5% c-bills.

Why is this so hard PGI?
Stop retreading and do something new.

Or better yet just freaking go for it.

This. So much this. You want to sell me a mechpack, I'm still waiting on my Wasp/Stinger/Valkyrie three-fer. Repackaging mechs that have been in the game for years already doesn't do it. Let's see some actual upgrades.

Just add the freaking Urbie IIC already. It hits a rare intersection of lore nostalgia popularity and meta. The IS Urbie was, IIRC, the highest selling mech pack PGI ever made or at least pretty close to the highest. PGI is starved for money, and the Urbie IIC is virtually guaranteed to provide a high return on investment and also be an effective mech.

Do eet.

That's my useless mech set of choice too, but new mechs still really aren't actual upgrades, even if they're good.

PASS. Mechs are not new content with around 800 in the game. Why does the game suck so much? Because lack of maps is a big deal. NEW MAPS not a re-skin of one with snow or night-day.

New maps are just different racing stadiums for nascar.

New equipment is where it's at.

Hundreds and hundreds of mech models in game, with over 3/4s of them not competitive to play. More mech packs has gone beyond being a MWO Meme to being a bit absurd. The game needs players. In order to get players, it needs some serious changes and it isn't "moar mech packs". Posted Image

I beg to differ, new things keep things fresh, keep people playing to try the new things and also provides revenue in order to fund more changes.

The problem was, half of this mech pack is crap.

Unsure.
A Thunderbolt with Jump and ECM looks interesting despite being seen as an obvious Energy boat.
An all Energy Dragon with no other benefit I can see?
The extra stuff is fluff and cute though I really do not use GSP.

But the thing that gets me and this is also true of all other packs, why is it when we are given a (S) or whatever special letter version of a variant with C-Bill bonus to buy we also get the EXACT SAME VARIANT IN PLAIN FORM?
Maybe some few keep and use both but I figure most are like me, sell the non-C-Bill one so it makes no sense.
I understand wanting to offer the C-Bill bonus variants for more money but there is no need for 2 versions of the same variant.

EDIT - forgot, no mention of quirks at all.

Thunderbolt is not bad, Dragon I have little experience with.

Crusader. Want. If I have to buy a Mackie to get it, then so be it.

That said, this pack is a mixed bag. The Grand Dragon is long overdue in the game, but doesn’t bring much in the way of new capability unless it’s quirked like a madman. A thunderbolt with its excellent torso energy hard points and an ECM, on the other hand... that’s worth considering. It’s not a mad scramble to the ATM machine, but there are worse ways to qualify for the annual loyalty mech. Posted Image

After PGI's awful track record of keeping promises, and actually ABANDONING the game only to come back after their crappy single player abomination died out faster than a ******* high, I don't buy into their promises to make changes.

This ain't a goddamn Kickstarter.
