By all means drink the rite-aid and throw $20 at PGI for "future content". If new variants to existing mechs is what you are looking for in terms of content then this rationale would appear to hold water. Beyond that? No.
This is PGI doing their same 'ole minimal viability thing in the most minimalist way possible. The only new content we are getting from PGI, regardless of the number of people who purchase this pack, is Chris once again doing balance passes that barely disturb the meta while making everything downstream even less fun to play than they already are, and the same ole promises of new stuff that will either A) never see the light of day, or B ) will be instituted in a manner contrary to what people are actually asking for. That's the BEST you can hope for here.
Do keep in mind the last time PGI promised "development effort" to fix something... These are the same people who spent 18 months "reviving" FP and that revival was to provide a leader board for the few people that still play it and a visualization mechanism so that prospective players can see just how few people are playing at a given time. A year and a half of development effort and that was pretty much it, yet you think it reasonable to think that now, all of a sudden, PGI is going to give us all sorts of "new content" if we all just toss a $20 their way? I'm sorry but I just don't think so.
Oh, and lets not forget that Russ announced they have a new IP they are working on. Based on past precedent, it is far more likely that your 20 bucks will be directed by PGI to that (whatever it is) then it would be spent on this game.
If PGI wants to prove me wrong and get my wallet back open I'll need to see:
- a new map without some large stupid central feature to nascar around,
- the return of 8 man GQ,
- a balance pass that instead of nerfing large swaths of builds by trashing entire weapons systems, instead provides individualized boosts to the plethora of dross and mediocre variants that PGI has ignored for years.
- Oh, and I STILL want the second LT missle hard point weapon's model on the H Quickdraw fixed.
They want my cash, then that's what I would need to see in terms of new content BEFORE I am willing to throw money at them again.
