I'm worried that they'll make both internally balanced with other Thunderbolt and Dragon variants when all of those need help Posted Image

They should forget about their ***-for-tat balancing for now and make these good then if it works out and the world doesn't crumble they can up the others later on.

I guess their decisions will determine if we'll get more of the same or get some actual bold changes.

Have you even heard the last vlog? They have their own take on things and will only handle select groups of weapons instead, handwaving the Gulag just like the last time it happened, the Community-Driven Balance Patch.

I'll see when the patch drops in my opinion.. If they stand by what they say and actually follow through great if they don't they obviously lose more customers.. Before christmas the game was apparently dead. So the new updates are bringing customers back, not following through would be very silly for PGI and MWO future imo.

Also this is just their first pass if nothing changes the customers will drag out the pitchforks and fire..

I'm well aware that the patch itself can contain good values that very well fix the balance, IF it has good numbers. Problem is that we've seen this before. I have little faith for them to get this right, they haven't did so anyways -- and when the major community tried to help, it was just handwaved. Guess what is being handwaved again? That's right, the Gulag.

I wish I am wrong, I really really am, for everyone's sake. But until I actually see good result, I remain skeptical and salty with PGI's decisions, because their track record shows that they don't deserve good faith.

By all means drink the rite-aid and throw $20 at PGI for "future content". If new variants to existing mechs is what you are looking for in terms of content then this rationale would appear to hold water. Beyond that? No.

This is PGI doing their same 'ole minimal viability thing in the most minimalist way possible. The only new content we are getting from PGI, regardless of the number of people who purchase this pack, is Chris once again doing balance passes that barely disturb the meta while making everything downstream even less fun to play than they already are, and the same ole promises of new stuff that will either A) never see the light of day, or B ) will be instituted in a manner contrary to what people are actually asking for. That's the BEST you can hope for here.

Do keep in mind the last time PGI promised "development effort" to fix something... These are the same people who spent 18 months "reviving" FP and that revival was to provide a leader board for the few people that still play it and a visualization mechanism so that prospective players can see just how few people are playing at a given time. A year and a half of development effort and that was pretty much it, yet you think it reasonable to think that now, all of a sudden, PGI is going to give us all sorts of "new content" if we all just toss a $20 their way? I'm sorry but I just don't think so.

Oh, and lets not forget that Russ announced they have a new IP they are working on. Based on past precedent, it is far more likely that your 20 bucks will be directed by PGI to that (whatever it is) then it would be spent on this game.

If PGI wants to prove me wrong and get my wallet back open I'll need to see:

- a new map without some large stupid central feature to nascar around,
- the return of 8 man GQ,
- a balance pass that instead of nerfing large swaths of builds by trashing entire weapons systems, instead provides individualized boosts to the plethora of dross and mediocre variants that PGI has ignored for years.

- Oh, and I STILL want the second LT missle hard point weapon's model on the H Quickdraw fixed.

They want my cash, then that's what I would need to see in terms of new content BEFORE I am willing to throw money at them again.

Good hardpoints? Where? it's garbage with only 3 low LT energy point and 0 on the RT.

Yes, they're not the high right torso mounts of the 5SS or 9S, but they're not garbage. center mass and tightly clustered, unlike, for example the cataphract or black knight which are even lower and spread across the mech's entire silhouette. When one of those mounts can fire, all three can.

Speaking of which, PGI... if you want to make everyone buy a Black Knight... do this:

After the latest Dev vlog my wallet stays shut until they prove that the balance changes are gonna be well thought out and are not gonna be another disaster and flat out nerf'o'rama, making even more mechs and weapons unfun, because they are so afraid of powercreeep! Everything they said about balancing gives me the creeps.

This. PGI has used up my good faith with the last several years of double-talk and lack of follow through. Would I like a Thunderbolt in my stable? Yeah. A Dragon? Maybe. Am I going to toss money at this game given the lack of meaningful updates in the last two years? No. Show me some effort, fix some longstanding issues, and if you want to sell me a mech pack, make it a new mech. Otherwise I'm just riding the game until the servers are shut down.

BK has 9 E points, enough to pack a punch. 5 is going to leave you 20 damage short in the alpha, you'll see that soon enough.

Yeah the only loadout worth running on the TBOLT as far as I can tell is MLs and a big MRM rack with MASC/JJ/ECM. It'll work, won't be spectacular.

Or something involving 3 large lasers, but yeah.

That's exactly why I am not spending more money on the game. I was down to get some MC or Bundle if if offers good value and maybe even the Stryker pack if the Dragon gets some really good quirks, but after hearing them mentioning Chris again and reading Daeron's comment on power creep, that all changed. I am not gonna spend money on anything until they can prove it's not gonna be just another **** show making the game less fun.

Depends on what you call less fun? To me at this time its less fun.. The weapons now are so poor and ruined from two years ago (when i last played) The ghost heat and weights on weapons are crazy.. armor quirks are low etc. but the tiers imo are far superior than two years ago so i'm on the fence with their changes..

What each player considers more fun is very very different.. Me i like long ttk in this game but the majority seem to want fast ttk esports type fiascos.. which isn't Battletech imo.
