Been playing online games since Unreal Tournaments (original), yes I'm that old :)

Over the course of the last 10 years I have seen a massive increase the abusive, troll like and to be frank pig ignorant behaviour of so many players, Albion Online, Dota II, LOL, WOW, Battlfield you name it its not genre specific.

I hadn't played MWO for many years, though I did almost 6000 hours on launch, after throwing it back on and recovering from the shock of no rubber banding anymore!!!!, I noticed something very striking

The HUGE majority of the player base in MWO are the absolute exception to the cancerous disease that has spread through online gaming, you are by a very, very long way the most friendly, supportive, funny people I have come across in a long time.

I'm sure many of you take this for granted, you shouldn't, it is a rare thing these days

So I would like to say, A BigThanks, for restoring my faith in Gamers /salute

Voip can get a bit salty at times but its typically just steam blowing on a hard loss or some such. But yeah in general there is very little toxic behavior.

Well, it's not hard to get worse when you are at the epitome of toxicity.

The MWO community definitely has its own brand of toxicity which is likely a product of the demographic, but it's thankfully much easier to ignore in-game.

Is the first person to die in game. Immediately blames own team and calls them a bunch of idiots. Somebody brings up I did less than 100 damage, begins typing in all caps about how the person criticizing me is clearly a T4 player and doesn't understand what I'm talking about.

In all seriousness, glad you're enjoying a less toxic environment, a good chuck of the most toxic saltlords left, yeah. You still get the occasional {Richard Cameron}, but thankfully it's a little more rare. Then again what do I know? Losing at a video game is serious business.:P

You're welcome OP, and thank YOU for not using that daft word "toxicity".

Noob! Git gud!

You're probably one of those mouth-breathing lurmers who sits in the back and asks everybody to hold locks for him, then complains when the bogeyman light mech makes a nice little snack out of you.

If only we could teabag in MWO.

Uninstall, loser!

Agreed I recognize a couple voices who play in my typical time slots who I think have a fair chance of pulling something similar to what you described over coms. In almost of a year of playing I had to mute one player only once because his complaining over coms was getting distracting.

The vast majority of the community are polite engaging and helpful.

Interestingly I've noticed a difference in tone between the Facebook community and this forum - it's worth checking it out as it's significantly more positive in conversations then this forum.
