How about a matchmaker that picks mechs completely random ?
No tonnage issues, no skill issues, no tier issues, no ego issues etc. You always know what you get: win some, loose some. It' s random.

Thoughts ?

I can't see how even LESS controls is going to be a remotely good idea when it doesn't have enough as it is.

You want MORE unbalanced games? Make it completely random.

Yes. You circumvent the perennial problems like: "We lost because there were to many lights on the other team" or "We lost because there was a difference in tonnage" or "We lost because the enemy had to many tier ones' " and so on and so on.
Next time you are with your tier 1 friends and win. Or have surplus tonnage and win. Or can have a wolfpack lights and win. This is what you know for sure and everybody does: it just all depends. Loose today, win tomorow (and vice versa because it' s random).

I wouldn't mind if they just mutated the queue occasionally so we had bizarre stuff going on from time to time. That all depends on how easy it would be to change on the back-end.

Picking your mechs and builds is one of the best parts about this game, and has contributed massively to its longevity.

So, no.

Also nearly all matches are lost because of skill differences, not class/tonnage imbalances.

You’re suggesting that removing the ability to pick your own mech, customize it, and level it up would somehow improve the game experience?? I politely, firmly, and completely disagree. Removing a player’s ability to choose and to customize would quickly depopulate the game, IMO.

Pick your mech, no problem - select the map; huge issue.

Even a 4 man premade can unbalance a map based on their chosen mechs and preference of mode. Just go full random rather than the current map/mode selection - - to a degree removes player influence/mech/map choice on the potential drop experience.

I would rather see them add a pregame lobby with an 800 ton team limit and 3/3/3/3 enforced for each team

teams would have to pick their mechs before the match starts. if players cant pick in time the players that didnt pick get stuck in trial mechs for that match.

that would eliminate the problem with tonnage and weight class difference.

im so sick of teams having 300 ton advantages because matchmaker doesnt balance tonnage at all.

I didn' t make myself clear. You retain the abillity to pick your mech and build it of course. You hit the start button and the MM will sort groups completely at random.

I don't see a problem with this, if it's truly random it'll even out in the long run. It'll probably don't be a big difference if we are talking about pug. A lot of complaints are due to the players feeling that their bad luck string with 10 losses in a row is artificially created and not natural. That argument would go away. I think people have a higher tolerance against real bad luck as opposed to the feeling that an algorithm is the cause.
