Hey whats up guys, in short i am hoping some of you hardcore BT historians can shed some light on any Middle eastern type of factions, worlds, planets, etc.
I am interested because I make Mechwarrior and Battletech content on Youtube such as short movies and Teasers (as well as MWO Build videos) and my current project is rather large. I am writing a draft script and want to get more details for my Story. I looked on Sarna for Some factions or Units and or desert planets but (i ended up knee deep in lore unable to breath or remember my way back) :0.
But yeah any and all information or links on any such lore is much appreciated. Half of my movie will take place on a desert canyon like world.
I am very very tired so im going to just fill you in on an outline of the basics of the first part below. Stay with me the story is coming together but i need more lore info first.
If this helps (My main character is in league with Fed Suns Or Steiner, although subject to change if need be) Short Fast Story - A desert planet deemed uninhabitable (100 years prior) had been found to have tons of resources. House so and so sends a crew down to build warehouses and factories etc to mine the goods. The House also sends down Middle eastern Prisoners of BLANK Faction to mine on the desert world. Its A win for free labor but a win for the workers as they are accustomed to such a climate and prefer it. The House provides them with essentials lodging and aggro mechs (construction mechs) to do the hard work. There are Guards patroling the desert roads daily in Battlemechs keeping order.
Every month or so a ship comes to collect the goods and delivers food and water etc.
BLAH BLAH BLAH basically The workers accidentally dig into an underground bunker full of weapons and ammo and old SL era mechs. The story picks up as A new green Mech pilot In Bravo team gets an order to Check out a situation forming on the Desert world.
Commander of The Gaurd patrols cant get in touch with any of his units below. All video feeds and transmissions have been cut. Its obviously either a huge blackout below or worse.... a rebellion.
Middle eastern workers have been working there for half a year by this point. Having lots of time to plan if they wanted to. Few of them were engineers or Mechanics for their old units. Others were mostly Grunts. But enough Knowledge down there to Fit some custom weapons onto an Construction mech and do some damage. Or worse if they ever got their hands on real weapons.
But this is just the back of your mind screaming these things. Everything is probably fine. After all we do control their food and water supply.
gonna stop there. You get the idea right? The workers found some weapons and old era mechs underground. Although they dont know how to pilot a battlemech. They were all Experiemced aggro mech Pilots and a few were mechanics in their old faction. With the gaurds mechs and the underground goods....what the hell could go wrong.

I am sorry, I do not fully understand the question. Is it possible to use a year range to help narrow down the question? Example 3050?
It’s hard to say, because while the star map changes frequently, if we are talking about the fourth succession war period, the upper right was House Kurita and the bottom right was House Davion, and there wasn’t any house in between them. But then after the clan invasion happens, the star map quickly changes and in between the top right and the bottom right on the outer edge is the Outworlds Alliance.

The Free Worlds League is known for being a mish-mash of ethnic backgrounds, including the near and middle east. There are also the semi-autonomous Azami people in the Draconis Combine.
This story/campaign idea sounds like it would work in an area controlled by pirates or a periphery power. For example, I could easily see this being done by a corporation in the Marian Hegemony (where it's easier to find people in power willing to turn a blind eye for a price). As for the League era supplies found, a bunch of small arms, a few armored vehicles, and maybe a couple of medium mechs sporting 3rd Succession War equivalent tech (perhaps more in a non-functional state, stuff was not made to sit on a shelf for 3 centuries). The kind of gear that would have been easy to forget about at the beginning of the 1st SW, and by the time the hardware was relevant again everyone that knew it was there was either dead or no longer had the means available to retrieve it. But it's enough hardware to jump-start an insurgency. Remember, those insurgents don't need top flight gear if their old and busted stuff is utilized correctly. An old Demolisher with a bad drive/transmission system that limits it to a movement rate of 1 cruising MP/2 flank MP might be a sitting duck in normal combat, but in an ambush in urban, wooded, or mountainous terrain it's still a pair of AC20s wrapped in a generous layer of armor.

I remember in one of the Grey Death Legion books, they talk about one of the pilots in there who is Muslim. They made a point about it because a very interesting concept came up regarding how does one pray properly towards Mecca when living an intergalactic life. The solution found apparently was that if you were praying, you would orient yourself "coreward" IE towards Terra the best you could on a given planet.
While I have various issues with religion on the whole, I actually found this solution to an interesting religious problem quite interesting..

This book has a great sub conflict of agrarian insurgents against professional mechwarriors. I think it's a very interesting read (note it's written from the perspective of the professionals) https://www.amazon.c...s/dp/1942487894

Also, I wonder how you observe Ramadan on a planet with a large axial tilt producing weird day-night cycles or, god forbid, in a binary/trinary star system?

As for "middle-Eastern" people, it really doesn't matter about faction. As has been suggested, somewhere out on the Periphery provides you with the greatest flexibilty in story line.
The question of prayer direction has...basically...been answered, semi-officially.
