GUILTYpleasure Mech....well there are currently 2 Mechs I feel cheap and dirty about when bringing them to QP Matches:
The Quad ALRM15 Wolfphoenix (NSR-WP) and the dual UAC20 NSR-9J.
Lights always react so shocked when a 95T mech jumps over them and starts shooting with dual UAC20 AND 4MLas.
Also the reaction of meds and lights rushing the WP only to discover it having 4 MPLs in its arms.

It ain't always easy, but vomiting a 76 alpha has its money-shot moments.

My current guilty pleasure is a Champion 1-NB with a maxed size engine that's basically a 105kph delivery system for an AC20 and 2.5 tons of ammo.

Complete jank but tons of fun when it works.

simple.

PoliceUrbie. I had a script to run the horns&lights ALL the time.
"Reds: this is the cops! power down your mech and leave the cockpit, or you WILL be shot at"

My guilty pleasure mech is my Spider 5V.

Nothing spectacular, but it comes with an 80% capture boost - and an extra 20% from skills, meaning it captures twice as fast. If you get a long map, such as Polar Highlands or Tourmaline Desert AND Assault you can just wreck the other team.

Firstly, my Spider has Mobility, Sensors and Operation skills with just a touch of Firepower and Survival. It has Laser AMS and 2 MPLs. It also has a lot of Auxillary, mainly capture and 2 UAV and 2 Artillery.

And that's it.

So if a normal map comes up I try and peek and shoot from behind an Assault.

If one of the other map come up I run like crazy along the side, find a nice place to hide and wait until the fighting starts. I pop a UAV up on the approach so I get enough of a warning and then proceed to the base.

After a couple of "Your base is being captured" the enemy team will break and start to send someone back. Along the way they may notice that it's being captured at twice the rate, which generally leads to more mechs being sent.

If it's very close to being captured I'll try and lead them away until I can run back and finish the job, otherwise I'll scoot back to the fight and try and get a few enemies in the back with my Artillery.

The GHR-H or N, or the EBJ-A...statistically, they have always been my two best mechs. Even after taking a few years off from the game, when I came back, they still cleaned up in matches. They just fit my style so well, I guess.

MAD-IIC-D with gauss and lasers + streaks against lights. Perfect sniper/lrm hunter and backstabber.

And MAD-4HP with 8x6 SRMs

None because then I would have to care.

After things I have dealt with and seen in online gaming, it is not worth it.

So I just run low XP Mechs for the heck of it and the challenge.

Currently my near stock thanatos.
make that a mrm/lrm medium that first round ... after 9 rockets in the back [i gotta watch my click into window] got a decent 400 damage mauling round. Yeoman could be viable I think.

My quad LBX10 Slipnar. It's just so easy, and so effective, sometimes when I'm having a bad run, I'll break it out just to break a few faces and have a good run.

Also, while I don't LRM often, when I'm feeling particularly lazy, I'll take out my LRM60 Sun Spider, with no backup weapons. Just streams of missiles for days, and enough speed to keep up with the team while firing. It's definitely a "guilty" pleasure.

Arctic Wolf - Blood Kit with 2 LB10X makes me smile every single time!! Yes, it has slight ammo issues but it's easily capable if 1000 dmg+ games with a well placed arty strike.

Enjoy!!

VGL-1 - 4xC-HML, 4xC-LMG. Souped up and tweaked to run at 113kph and run ice cold.

Always funny in Conquest or Domination to get to the objective like a light and then have the enemy light try & run while I keep up just holding the fire button down........

The ultimate lazy mech...,

Oh God, I couldn't agree less with not taking Gauss Charge nodes, it's not about getting used or not to charge time, it's about how advantageous it is when you know your position is going to be attacked, it is the difference between you having you Gauss ready for them when they finally peek or not, if the enemy is a light mech it's the difference between you smashing them to pieces or them getting in your back. Good luck after that happens if you are alone. And all that for a mere 2 skill points, they are so cheap once you are in Firepower Skill Tree it's mind blowing not to take them.

Similar can be said about SEISMICS, those UAVs can be shot down, unusable when under a roof and don't detect STEALTH mechs at all. Of course seismics are a lot more expensive to take and I wouldn't advise taking them all the time, but if you have to delve in Sensors Skill Tree becuase ECM not putting just 4 SPs more to take seismics is a big waste, imo.

Anyway, I think HGauss is going to suffer after this patch, a lot of other weapons become better, Hgauss stays the same basically the same and is going down in the ladder of weapon greatness.

I ALWAYS take seismic. A piranha with micro lasers is ALWAYS in seismic range when it does the dirty on your rear torso. I consider that tree survival, because it not only gives you a new sensor input you don’t otherwise have, but 80 to 100 percent radar deprivation keeps the rain off you. Seriously, instantly disappearing off the other guy’s target lock keeps you alive so much longer, and if you’re going for that, spend 2 more for full seismic.
