I think I like this because its similar to my gameplay style in World of Tanks - I really liked fast light and medium mechs that could do that before they screwed the game balance.
I've been doing the trial mech challenge, and I've learned I like the trial adder b/c it runs cool and fast, but the low energy hardpoints have tripped me up over ridgelines
The shadowcat I like for a similar reason, mobile ER PPC platform, also has ECM, but it runs a little hot for my taste.
I already run a dual ER PPC Catapult K2 with UAC/2, but its more of a "medium" mech in terms of gameplay compared to the shadowcat/adder's "light"
any recommendations for a fast mech with high er ppc mounts and either AMS or ECM? Ideally a mech that is "short"

Then suggestions can flow. Huge difference between a SHC and a K2.
The SHC should not be hot if you have the right skill tree. I ran one the other night for a few hours and it was totally fine.

90+ KMH, and also good acceleration/deceleration for ridge peeking
The K2 is a good mech bUT it's a different gameplay style
Adder and SHC are good, I'm just wondering what's the best in those vein of mechs

also, after the patch on the 20th, Light PPCs will have no minimum range. That will open up quite a few light mech builds. Such as a Panther or Jenner like the following:

jump capable, high mounts, and has more heatsinks than the shadow cat. it's noticeably squishier and lacks the ECM and MASC, but it might be just what you're looking for. make sure you use the prime arm omnipods for the extra armor.
you can also run 2 CERPPCs on the ACW-2, but you lose out on the JJs. it has a 10% energy cooldown quirk and is more flexible if you decide you want more heatsinks, AMS, or a larger engine, though i personally find the JJs more useful.

Adder can mount torso ERPPC, at the expense of the set of 8 quirks of -5% ERPPC heat generation, and +10% ERPPC velocity, so it's a tradeoff of arm mounts + quirks + more exposure, or high mounts, no quirks but less exposure.
Shadowcat, Arctic Wolf, Vapor Eagle, Ice Ferret, Hunchback IIc-A, Huntsman, among a few others can do 2 ERPPC (3 in the case of the Veagle, Hunchback IIc-A and Huntsman) while also being a fast mover.

Arctic Wolf Prime has a Right torso that has super high mounts for ERPPC

SHC then.
MASC and JJ. It's plenty cool enough to rack up 600dmg+ in a 4m QP match. Just takes some getting used to and ensure you reposition when you hit max heat and you'll be good.

I use it with ECM, 1 PPC and 3 smalls. It will still get hot if you're leaning on the PPC button hard enough.

Fair enough still losing one shoulder and my weapons would bother me. I actually run two erppcs and two srm4s so my shoulders are taken.

I prefer the arctic wolf, too
- and/or the adder.
granted, the low arm-mounts is something you have to get used at, but the quirkset makes up for it.
it's also 10t lighter (matters in fw-decks (to be fair: if you bring an adder or scat, you're doing it for %reasons% anyway ;D))
