People be experimenting. Happens when new weapon systems get buffed, and this is the first time we've seen buffs in like 5 years. It was paul policy first, and now chris lowrey policy, to only ever nerf things that were performing, rather than buff things that were underperforming, which is why for years, everything has felt like unfun wet noodles.

Just as a related aside to the OP, there was a match last night on HPG where everywhere I turned I was getting shot by a different RAC5 boat. It made me think of the scene in the Godfather, when Sonny gets it, then..."look how they massacred my Quickdraw boy." Lol.

I came around a corner and got lit up by the classic 3xRAC bushwhacker and also the new 2xRAC50 bushwhacker :|
But by the end of the match they were dead and I was alive. 4xCLPL on the Rifle-IIC is quite nice now.

RAC5s J U S T got buffed to be equally usable as RAC2s, so of course everyone and their grandma is taking them for a spin to see what works and what doesn't. I expect things to start calming down in a week or so. Until then, it's going to be an interesting wild west of testing the new limits to find what works and what's not worth it.

It's been a lot of fun RACing up kills in my BushRACer, that's for sure. I always liked the 5s feeling more meaty than the 2s, so it's nice for the performance to match.

yeah the patch breathed new life into my 2 Rac/5 Corsair-7A (2 RAC/5, 4 ER MLs, and 4 Mixed AMS (2 balistic 2 energy)). now it doesn't simply jam up after 2 seconds and produces a little less heat (enough that the MLs were upgraded to ERs. though its a little toasty with they energy AMS so i might go back to the standard MLs

Its because the racs are in a weird area.. Massive damage in a smaller weight thresh hold.

So people can take one or two and obliterate while the similar weapons in the same weight area solo or paired do jack all. Also the fact they blind and shake enemies permanently make them perfect for troll builds.

The Crazy Patch buffed overpowered stuff even more.

true but they also need to face time to be effective meaning you can't really twist out of the way and spread damage as effectively while still putting lead down range. they also have a short spin up so take sap shots in is something that is hard if not impossible
(you need to be good at predicting player movement) RACs are a DOT sort of weapon taking the damage also tends to spread. they can also sort of blind the use depending on were the mounts are in relation to the cockpit (gets nasty on something like the Roughneck were the mount is right next you you face.

not taking either side here just pointing out the downsides of RACs.

I actually whipped up a build for a guy on reddit yesterday who was asking about options - COR-7A

I think it would go quite nicely. Although I still prefer RAC2s on it just with the added range+quirk is reaaallly nice on it.


If you're happy to go slower you can still run RAC2s and LPPC actually which is interesting - COR-7A
