It used to be that when you took out a side torso, you were rewarded with the damage from the arm being destroyed in addition to the damage you got from the side torso.
A while back I recall pgi changing it so you didn't get the arm damage anymore. I'm not sure if it's been reverted or changed since I last checked in, but it'd be nice if it was. It makes sense to better reward people for focusing on torsos more than just spitting out unfocused dps.
Maybe something for the gulag/cauldron to look at and give to pgi if enough of us agree

It was a bug actually that lead to increased match score.
And no it should not come back.
Doing an extra 80 damage for free by taking a torso and getting the arm hitpoints without actually shooting, using heat/ammo is not balanced

by that logic destroying a mech through any means should reward damage equal to the entirety of its remaining HP across all components.

You should change your name. Example above.

It's funny because we're rewarded for doing the exact opposite of this through the Salvage Bonus.

That's fair. Maybe bring the match score back then. It would make sense that being able to focus a torso, which is more useful in-game than just taking a shield arm, would raise your match score, and by extension your teir.
I wouldn't say no to the cbills either. I got a lot of mechs and builds to play test with tommorows patch, and I'm space poor.

Cockpits, yes. STs, no.

Well, you get the reward for Component Destruction on ST and Arm, so that's a plus in Matchscore, CBills and XP.
