Yep the 8 mechs from what I understand are happening.

Patch notes go up it seems the day prior not the Fri-before (currently).

There's nothing they can do really about stomps. I don't want to have to play through one match multiple times. Once you die you're dead, that's the way it should be. Don't make stupid decisions and you won't die so early. I like the more hardcore no respawn gameplay. Forces you to play better. Usually when I see stomps it's because the team is indecisive and not playing as a team. A few people run off on their own and once they die it usually screws the rest of the team. Or if there is a premade on the other side it usually ends up in a stomp. That's the only thing I would change. Take the premade groups out of pugs.

Can someone make a simple writeup of what role/goal each weapon is supposed to perform? That'll give a clearer target for balance rather than 'weapon x should compete with weapon y'.

You don't bring a sniper rifle to every engagement. Sniper rifles don't have to compete with M4s. Pistols aren't used in every operation, but it's nice to have. I prefer a balancing philosophy that is similar to this rather than every weapon should find equal or close to equal usage.

What a necro.

There's alot of uac jam chance quirks now. Sniff them out.

NAVID has a proposal for jamless UACs but they'll require a PTS

The Piranha is made of wet tissue paper and can be one shot by literally anything in the game. It's hardly overperforming.

Found the PIR pilot who doesn't want his mech nerfed. Seriously though, anyone who thinks the Pirahna is "made of wet tissue paper" and can be "one shot by literally anything" has never paid attention to the Light mech situation. It has forcibly removed basically all other IS Light mechs of 20 tons besides the Flea as decent choices. A combination of the superior durability of the Clan XL, actually having more armor than a Locust already (whose weapons are already in vulnerable arms instead of in better protected torsos), similar speed, and VASTLY superior firepower make it inherently superior to just about every LIght at its tonnage in almost every category.

Pir 2 or 3 aren't really the issue, they are still Piranhas and thus die easily. Issue is with the micro pulse over performing vs the heavy small which is the same weight and similar use case.

You know... other than completely making obsolete most of the IS 20 tonners...

So what you're saying is that the Piranha is better than every IS 20-tonner other than the Flea

Which is a group that consists of the Locust.

lol, the Flea superseded the Locust, Piranha had nothing to do with it as it serves a completely different role. Not to mention basically everything else you've said is false. The Locust generally has larger defensive quirks and it had better hitboxes than the PIR. The PIR does one thing well, be a glass cannon, and that's it. In QP it can work extremely well for a skilled player because the opposition frequently doesn't shoot or position well. In more competitive environments it is rarely considered because there are far more reliable options (FLE, COM, FS9, INC, WLF, etc).

I play a wide variety of mechs in this game. This includes the PIR of course, and it includes lights like the Firestarter (number 1 light right now!), Commando, Wolfhound, Incubus, Javelin, Jenner IIC, Urbanmech, and so on. It also includes plenty of mediums, heavies, and assaults. The number of mechs that I run that can't one-shot a PIR is vanishingly small, and the vast majority will seriously main a Piranha reliably in QP. I'm generally more concerned if a MLX tries to jump me right now than if a PIR does because the MLX isn't usually going to die if I land a decent shot.

Honestly, I actually like Mist Lynx more for MG-spamming than the piranha. the arms have better reach, and has JJ.

And so far the only Piranha I actually liked is the energy boat one with 6x SPL + 9x ERuL, because it bursts a powerful incognito laser alpha near instantaneously.

to back up this point, before survival tree a MLX has close to double the total armor of the most dangerous PIR variants. The PIR also has no JJs or ECM, isn't particularly small, and isn't agile for a 20-tonner. It kinda has to carry a boatload of firepower b/c that's all it has going for it

I'd rather play the Locust/Flea than the Piranha. They are annoying but fold easily.

I agree. I tried the laser fish with no skills on it. It flat out sucks. My mlx-prime does and plays much better. I looked at max armor with skills. Only the IS pnt comes close with as much arm armor. 40-42 for mlx and 40-50 on the pnt. Still out of the lights I use the raven 3l the most with lct-pb pretty high up on the most used with com-2d in the top five.

ECM,Stealth and sesmic sensors are pretty much a must for lights now with all the 40-60 alphas and ecm dires out now.
35ts are pretty much trash since the 20ts came into the game. The slim 30ts I've got the jvn-ht for the lrm 5 lol build or as a mock spider when I want to run laser and laser.

While I could free up mech bays getting rid of my non-hero 35s i'd rather keep them over having to torture myself re-skilling them back to 91 nodes. Who knows maybe one year in 5478 pgi might give the 35ts back their original scale or give them all universal urbie level armor to make people want to play 35ts again.

Rescale is supposedly coming. It still sounds weird to my ear when people say 35 tonners are bad. I remember when they were a terror.

The Firestarter is the best light in the game atm, WLF is still decent (but not top tier meta), and the Panther has been a worthwhile mech for ages. 35 tonners don't suck.

Assassins and Vulcans are both bigger than 35-tonners, and those things are both deeply unpleasant to deal with if the pilot has any clue. I think people are just butthurt that Jenners aren't smaller than Commandos to make up for being one of the oldest 'Mechs in the game and stuck with junk 2013-era hardpoints. I don't see anybody seriously complaining about literally any other 35-tonner, just Jenners. Wolfhounds are fine, Firestarters are fine, Panthers...aren't any worse than they've ever been...and Ravens have never been good outside the one weird stretch where RVN-3Ls with pulse lasers and Streak SRM-2s were basically the Piranhas of their time. back in, like...2013? 2014? Long before the Clans dropped, at any rate.

The whole "AL 35 TUNNERS R G@RB@J!!1!" thing is really starting to feel overblown.

It turns out all the FS9 really needed was its mobility back and red laser buffs. If rescale comes, my god

You can safely assume there will be adjustments to quirks IF rescale happens, until then, quirks is our tool
