So I'm wanting to get some practice to help get back into the game and was wondering if anyone had any game suggestions that would allow me to practice scout/recon tactics while we wait for this release.

The only good Robot/mech game i can think about is http://www.perpetuum-online.com but after 2 weeks you have to pay every month
But its different , maybe Supreme Commander ?

And otherwise i still have the game Mechwarrior 4 Vengeance in the chest . But than you have to downgrade your pc to Windows 98 to run it

I have Win7. Mechwarrior 3, Mechwarrior 3 Pirate's Moon, Mechwarrior 4 Vengeance, Mechwarrior 4 Black Knight, and Mechwarrior 4 Mercs (at least the MTX Free release) all work natively.

Mechwarrior 3 won't seem to work with hardware rendering for me, but I can play it with software rendering fine. Pirate's Moon works with hardware rendering, presumably because it uses a newer version of direct X than the game that it is a sequel to, but I can run it perfectly with high textures and stuff at 1024x768, etc, etc.

Vengeance and Black Knight work ok, and the MTX release with MekPaks are fantastic.

Seriously though, MW:LL and MW4 NetBT-Titanium are probably the closest you'll get to this. Play on the Sunder server on MW4:Mercs.

Anyone can direct me proper to the driver fixes for modern ATI cards when running MW3? The game itself runs fine if using hardware graphics, but the textures paste themselves onto my screen and in 5 seconds of gameplay I become completely blind. I heard of these problems with modern ATI cards, but I failed as I tried Googling for the driver fixes.

Anyone know how to get them, if it is possible at all, or a workaround? Its heartbreaking to not ever be able to play MW3 and PM unless I find some old computer...

At least being blind makes MW3 slightly challenging.

How in the name of sanity fo you get MW3 to work on Win 7? I couldnt get it to work on Win Xp and I cant even hardly start it on Win 7..I can get it installed but after about 10 seconds in any mission it bugs out and crashes....

Mechwarrior4MercinariesPR1,and the Mechwarrior4Mercenaries Free Mektek version also.

Here are the instructions to get the Mektek Free version to work on GameRanger

First go to gameranger.com download client and make account.The activation email will sometimes come in a junk folder.Activate your account and startup gameranger.
Visit www.mektek.net and download a free copy of Mechwarrior Mercinaries through the MTX or torrunt programs update it to version 3.1/30a-30c
Next go to your hardrive where your free copy of the Mektek mercinaries is installed(C:D:ECT\programfiles\mektek.net folder).
Next rename the folder(mektek.net)folder to (Mektek) delete the (.net).
Next go inside the newly renamed (mektek) folder and find the folder(Mercenaries-Mektek Mekpack)
Next rename the folder (Mercenaries-Mektek Mekpack) to (MercenariesMektek)all one word then go back to GameRanger on the gameranger bronze page go to edit then options find the game Mechwarrior Mercinaries on the games tab highlight it on list then hit the brows tab to open it point your link to your new C:\program files\mektek\MercinariesMektek\MW4mercs.exe
thats it now you can play on gameranger.

Something for helping with the older MW games on Win7...get the WinXP codecs, that's usually the biggest issue, the codecs those games used aren't included in Win7, fixed me right up.

Throwing in my praise for MW:LL. The lack of players is a real shame considering how many people love the BT universe. Crysis Warhead (MW:LL is a mod) is the game you need and I believe it is on sale for Steam's Holiday events at this moment.

MechWarrior: Living Legends could be considered to be the closest thing currently to MW:O, as long as you have Crysis:Wars then you can play it. Great game, there's usually one server full and possibly another half full depending on the time of day

MW:LL is really fun, and is so well done and balanced it is the main reason I have no fear for this game, I figure if a group of modders can do it for free in Alpha stage, then a group of professionals paid to do it have to be able to do just as well on a greater scale.
