After 6 mining in a row= nope, nope, nope.... don't mind me if I alt f4 and go play something else.

I was all for map voting originally, but we don't have that many maps, and we play about 4 of them.

entirely my imagination and i hope someone can prove me wrong:

the problem is how the maps are picked

first the server randomly picks 2 gamemodes
then picks 4 maps that are playable with the gamemodes

atleast this is my explaination why we see less Mining f.e.

This is correct. Not all maps have all game modes available so the maps that don't have incursion walls defined for them never show up if incursion is to be available and so on

Agreed. Map voting puts on the same ******* maps over and over and adds significant time to getting into a game, which already takes too long.

Is that why Caustic Valley and Alpine Peaks are so rare??

I always assumed the game was using an ML package to determine which maps were more popular and slowly reducing the likelihood of unpopular maps popping up in the queue.

PGI has skewed the maps picked in the past, for an event, so it's possible to do but I doubt any are weighted now. What I see come up is Canyon, Mining, Hibernal, HPG, and Tourmaline the most. Those seem to be everyone's favs, and I'd say they're the better designed maps. But certain maps don't come up as often simply because they don't support all game modes, yes. Mining isn't one of them though. Think a lot of people just like that map more.

Wait... I thought maps each had a dedicated server in each region and that the game threw the four least busy maps at us on any given drop. Did I misunderstand, or has that changed in the past few years?

I don't wanna play run and cap unless i can bring a mech suited to that.

To be honest I wouldn't mind if map voting goes away either
Being forced to play any map (even the ones you like) several times in a row is boring af.. especially for casual players like me who don't play many matches per day
A good option would be a random map cycle that kept track and automatically balance the number of times each map is played
That way every map would be picked the same amount of times

Given how many dupe maps there are I don't really see how removing map voting is going to 'improve' map selection. If a map keeps getting voted several times in a row that would indicate that the majority of players want to play that map. Saying that, I think they could probably improve the map selection algorithm so you don't get a bunch of dupes to choose from which happens often. Plus get rid of incursion mode. The only time that ever gets picked is the rare times the offered maps and other mode are really terrible together.

I'd like map voting gone as well, one it adds mystery to what ever map you get next, two it makes people fight on all maps not just their comfort zones and three it gives me time to get coffees between matches especially in groups.

Please ditch the map choice screen PGI

You already get plenty of time to grab some refreshment because you don't have to pick anything. Just make sure to be back before the match starts.

It doesn't really matter. If you've ever played any other game with MM instead of dedicated servers you're bound to play the same map over and over. World of Warships is an example where I've played the same map 8 times in a row. Me and my homies hate Mountain Range.

But I digress. A lot of the issue is the lack of maps in the game and the game modes that go with them. Besides, I like rocking the vote with my x4+ to a hot map so the alpha strike users suffer. It feels pretty good watching mechs shut down and get punished for front loading damage.

i think they aree the worst maps baad spawn points ******* valleys yoiu cant get out of and limited by what you can use lrms in hpg really not to mention the nascar curcuit of these maps

honestly i think they should do a thing were the MM keeps track of what maps are chosen overall (restricted to area servers like US or European) over an amount of time, say by the hour or so. then the MM takes those maps chosen most often out of rotation (say the top 2 maps) this way you still get a choice but the likely hood of getting the same map over and over is less likely. like everyone else i get tired of seeing the same 2 or 3 maps over and over all day.

as for maps PGi has stated that Canyon is getting an entire rework (a sort of test for their new employee who is going to be handling maps and such from now on). they are also gonna gonna be fixing spawn points. i hope we get fixes to other maps (as this would perhaps be easier on PGI than making a new one) to the same degree as what i have seen for the potential Canyon changes.
