Anyone using IS CASE now? I'm not. Yeah it sucks to have internal explosion, but if you have ammo explosion on your XL torso, which a LOT of IS mechs does, you aren't going to survive it because chain explosion.

Leg ammo just works.

It doesn't mean that the ton-free IS CASE isn't helpful, it is, it's just that the reason we don't take case just goes beyond it not being free unlike the Clans -- hell, we also put ammo in the leg with Clan Battlemechs, and they already have free CASE.

It's the entire all-or-nothing approach to crits is exactly the problem. It's not Table-Top where it's luck of the draw!

What I want actually seen done is:
- No more chain explosion
- ensured ammo explosion
- ammo explosion deals between 10 to 30 damage
- CASE instead directly reduce internal explosion damage.

Now what would these changes do? All in all, instead of just instantly killing the mech with one massive internal explosion, I want the system that instead provide constant bonus damage that incentivizes constant critting.

But I digress. We don't exactly have resources to try this thing, even the Gulag changes were done live.

Not really by the time my build is done with and endo fills up my entire mech i can't even fit it.. If ammo gave more quantities i'd probably throw some in.. Some mechs builds i can't even fit AMS to my detriment.

Still using it now and used it before the change...when it makes sense anyway.
I try to fit so my ammo and associated weapon are in the same location, losing either one alone makes the other redundant so I'd rather rely on twisting to protect what I need to and sacrifice lesser weapons.
Exception being if I'm boating something like ac/5s then I'll spread the ammo all over so I can keep fighting after some component losses.

If you're against a 12 man team you can normally count on 7-8 of those having high pinpoint alphas, peek the wrong corner and half your mech vanishes before you can react.

Fortunately I'm more into energy weapons so case isn't an issue that plagues me.

were i can i do use it .. having it on heavies and assaults were i don´t waste slots for ferro or light ferro it´s a no brainer with gaussbuilds .. otherwise ammo wise i simply put anything in centertorso or legs and arms ...if i have to use xl i only realy put it in when there is no other way but to put ammo in the sidetorsos ... otherwise i use light or standart engines and go without case for the most part ..

I use case on my mechs that have gauss in the STs, it keeps them from taking out the CT when the gauss rifles get critted out.

I am using CASE on a number of builds where I have no option but to put ammo in the arms.

Things like Atlas etc. I mean I already have 55 armour+ in the arm and they rarely get blown off - but I had a spare crit slot so, in CASE went.

it might get some use of a hand full of builds that need more ammo than what you can cram into the usual 5 free slots. of course the problem with the free 5 slots is that everyone knows to target them when facing off against primarily ballistic mechs and ammo explosions abound.

case gives me a few more options, and there are usually left over slots anyway that can accommodate case. i try to maximize my slot usage but its a low priority. however i can do a distributed cased ammo config, and greatly reduce the damage caused by ammo crits. on builds where i run a small number of heavy weapons i can keep the ammo with the weapon and if it gets critted i don't lose the ammo for the other weapons. lets you build a mech you can really run down to the nub.

I think I've tinkered with ~20mechs since the re-install, and -1- of them has case now, cause free slots are rare.
but it's great to have the option non the less.

that being said: if you got exploding ammo there's only one reason for that:
you don't dakka enough! Posted Image

I put it on 'Mechs that have a gun-arm, where there is also room for ammo. I'd rather the arm goes off than getting leg checked.

With the high alpha meta case really doesn't make that much difference.
