If I am already the owner of M5 Ultimate edition from the epic store release:
Do I have to buy the game again to play it on Xbox or through steam?

I feel a but silly, but i don't want to buy the same software twice unless it comes with physical perks like a metal collectors case or something like that. Maybe a tint madcat? Plz?

Ive been wonder about this for months, and hoping for pgi to clarify the situation on their own, which they haven't.

I've already done my bit for the franchise, So i gotta know.

I wonder about those poor people that purchased on steam at pre order and never refunded.

If you can just switch platforms even if you bought it on Epic, I believe that defeats the point.

I'm not going to say that "You should have waited", cause it's quite atrocious considering that it's 1 year and 5 months at this point. Likewise the MW5 release on other platform is basically 30$ for a broken game and 20$ to fix it.

Yes.

If I bought the same game in XBox, I would have to buy it again for Playstation. If I bought a game on Apple App Store, I would have to buy it again on Google Play.

Despite being on the PC, Epic, Steam and Windows Store are regarded as separate platforms.

I am looking to give MW5 at the end of the month a shot on my XBox. But I do not have any expectation I will install it on my PC, unless MW5 is offered on the Windows Store.

Game industry standard now.
Buy on one platform, cannot be played on another.
Live with that platform or shell out more bucks.
Not just MW5 does this.
One of the reasons I avoided early purchase.

They will let players play across platforms, so let's say like Genshin Impact, you can have players from Android, Apple or PC jump into your Playstation 4 game.

But because each platform has all sorts of legal walls, you cannot transfer assets bought within a platform to another.

As with all things digital and virtual, you never really own things, you only have some glorified rental. True ownership is something only when you have it physically on your hand.

The only way I would think you have potential for transferring assets across one platform to another is when the sign-in to a game is through your personal email, with a separate login and password, and not through your Google Play/Apple App Store/Steam/Epic/Windows/XBoxLive/PSN/Amazon account. This can also be with let's say, a Facebook, Twitter or Weibo account.

Only times I see people able to transfer assets is free online games.
You can create and login your MWO account through both standalone client and Steam.

Paid games is a no.
R6Siege, buy it on one platform, you have to rebuy it on another.

Good Old Games still holds to old school game ownership values. It's why they're my platform of choice, even if I did go Epic to grab MW 5. I beleive MW5 is supposed to be available through them, so if that's a thing you care about, they're your answer.
