26 MAY 2021 - FATAL error crash on startup! Patched today.. now won't run at all..

Anyone else having this problem?

i had a crash but it seemed to be related to mods. disabling the mods in the launcher did not work, i had to manually delete the mod folders and re-verify the game before it would work.

*addendum*

the mod folders i removed to fix my problems were:

C:\Program Files\Epic Games\MW5Mercs\MW5Mercs\Mods
C:\Program Files\Epic Games\MW5Mercs\MW5Mercs\EpicMods

im using egs launcher.

I also have a fatal error on Launch from the Epic Game Store Version. I am reinstalling now to see if that helps. I am unable to get the exact error message as it is redownloading at the moment. The message had to do with loading the GUI, I will update with the exact message if it reappears.

Uninstalling and re-installing also does the trick (of course with Epic Games this also removes all of the mods) .. Discord has a lot of people successfully resolving Fatal Errors by removing the mods

Yes, I got the same error today when I launched the game. In Epic Games and after the MW5 update I got this error message and the game just closes:



Removed the mods, verified the game. Same error. Now uninstalling and reinstalling MW5.

Ok, I forgot to remove mods from paks -folder. Noticed that after fresh install... Removing all mods from packs and mods folders solved the crashing problems during the game launch. Thought It crashes again if I install any mod, either from epic or from nexusmods.

So basically the update broke the mods and if I wanna play, I need to go vanilla

Same here. Since patch I'm getting the low level fatal error upon game start. Never succeed in even launch the game.
No mods. Ran fine pre patch. nvidia 456.71

Missing Dependency, Request for
/Game/Objects/Spawners/DynamicSpawnPoint.SpawnPoint_C:SetUniqueIdentifier but it was
still waiting for creation.

YAY! Epic store ran update and added Hero DLC. Never did have mods, or even the editor, installed. First try to run the game today, and "The following components are required to run this program: Microsoft Visual C++ Runtime." Not quite the same as Fatal Errors, but still can't play.

EDIT: had to manually install the MS VC++ Runtime. Latest one from here: https://support.micr...ff-95f26a218cc0

Update: Uninstalling and re-installing to a new harddrive fixed the problem.

Now I have the mouse stuck on screen regardless of mode i'm in (windowed, borderless, fullscreen) and regardless of if i'm in menu, mech, or base... but at least now I can play the game.

Microsoft Visual C++ Redistributable something or another
- Update from 2017 to 2015-2019 version.
- The latest supported Visual C++ downloads (microsoft.com) x86, x64, or ARM64 as required

So what I see, this patch basically broke the use of any mods at all... and most likely even if mods are removed, some residual thing is left behind and for some of us the game still won't run at all.

We knew mods would be broken. That's pretty standard practice for any game. Game gets an update, the mods for the game no longer work.

Just the way it is. We'll have to wait a few months to see if modders will come back and refresh their content to work with the new version.

You should read what everyone said, not just one post.. It is NOT mods that are the problem. Mods bring it out for everyone apparently but the bug literally is the game itself.. As MANY said, even without mods, the game crashes on loading. PERIOD.

those mods will need to be updated by their respective mod authors. that could be awhile.

id check the mod folders anyway just to be on the safe side, since the mods are installed by the launcher and not manually in most cases. game updates breaking mods is actually pretty normal for mod scenes. breaking it for non-mod users, well that's just lazy design.

also there are likely a lot of fatal errors associated with the game, not all are going to be mod related, such as yours, best bet is to post as much detail about your install: os, gamestore, system specs, exact error message, etc. and hope someone with a similar setup found a workaround. emailing support might also help.

OK EVERYONE, I wrote to support.. They ARE aware of the problem.. Here is what they wrote back to try until they get a fix in place:



"We are currently investigating this issue and the main suspect cause is file corruption.

I understand that this is not ideal, but could you please try either a full reinstall or removing the following folder and running file verification:
C:\Program Files\Epic Games\MW5Mercs\MW5Mercs\Content\Paks
If possible, temporarily disable your firewall and anti-virus for the reinstall.

If you are performing a full reinstall, you can find and back up your save game here:
Open File Explorer
Click the address bar at the top
Copy-paste the following line and hit Enter:
%localappdata%\MW5Mercs\Saved\"
