Hello, i wanted to share my experience as maybe it may help some people out.

A few hours earlier this day i bought the GOG.com Version of the Dropship Collection of MW5.

At first the installation files were not available so i installed the GOG Galaxy Version of the game, which i intended to do anyway, and that went without troubles.

Thoug the performance was frankly spoken stuttery/laggy ****!!!
No matter what i did , no matter waht it toned down on the settings - it stayed stuttery/laggy ****!

Which i did not expect at all bcs my PC could even run Cyberpunk 2077 very smoothly and that is waht i want, a smooth gaming experience regardless of FPS.

Back when i played Cyberpunkt i had the same PC with different storage:
1x Samsung EVO 850 250GB as System Drive
2x Samsung Spinpoint F3R 1TB stripeset so it appears as 1 Volume and each HD has the same workload.

Everything went smooth as butter if i would not exceed intentionally the specs of my Sys.
CPU is a Ryzen 5 3600 Stock
GPU Radeon RX480 8GB Sapphire Nitro+ OC
RAM 2x 16GB DDR4 3600 G-Skill Ripjaw V Black
Board Gigabyte Aorus Elite B450

So, as the HDs were around 10yrs of usage and the SSD still good but a little small to act as storage for non gaming stuff i wanted to seperate from my gaming stuff i decided i would upgrade my storage.
System Drive is now a Corsair MP600 1TB on the first m2 Slot with 4 PCIe lanes
Gaming-Data Drive is now the Samsung EVO 870 2TB SATA

The performance of the new storage is outstanding compared to my old solution and much more silent on top.
Though 3D Mark had a reduction in perfomance by 7% or 300 points and was not smooth anymore, games ran more or less the same as i mostly play games where FPS is irrelevant.
Cyberpunk i had ended and wont ever touch it again as i hate the Jonny part of the game.

Yet when i installed MW5 ofc everything went smooth and fast in regard to the installation but when i started the game up it went to hell.

First i had to disable AMD Fideltiy bcs it made the grafic worse, everything had sort of cloudy filmgrain on it and it gave ugly artifacts.

Then i immediately noticed the bad stuttery/laggy performance of the game and treid for hours to solve it wandering through the several options switching and changing everything that could maybe increase performance.

I managed to get it slighty better but in the end it was highly unsatisfactory and i would not play the game with that performance.

Now, i had already begund to develop a suspicion that was not yet proven.
Windows as well as the GPU-Driver have had massive updates in the same timespan and so i played around with them a bit to no avail.

Thus i finaly decided to explore my suspicion and change the drive configuration.
I did not want to revert to the old storage config yet and decided to first change the M2 SSD as this was the most suspect actor in this case and simply by placing it in the second M2 Slot instead of the first M2 Slot all my performance troubles went magically away!

How this works is unbeknownst to me but i suspect the second M2 Slot puts less of a burden on the CPU/System with only half the PCIe lanes (maybe it is even routed via the chipsed instead a CPU direct link).

But for me a very slightly degraded storage performance of the System Drive that i never experience in my typical daily use of the PC is worth the much better/smoother gaming performance (and ofc it is still much faster/responsive than the old storage config)!

After that could significantly increase several settings by 1 or 2 steps and it still runs butter smooth.

TLDR: If you have a bad stuttery/laggy gaming performance it may be your M2 SSD that somehow makes the trouble and simply switching it to another slot may already solve all troubles.

Have Fun with the game!
