I got it on Epic at release, played it a ton, liked it but it had warts no question. Last played about a year ago.
Just got back into it and man. Bugs are largely gone (haven't seen any so far playing all day), map variety, mech variety, AI dramatically improved, no more spawning in out of nowhere, missions more varied, the Cantina and Career stuff is all awesome.
It's a significantly better game than it was a year ago and the DLC feels really good so far. No complaints at all. Given how much I've bitched about PGI over the years that's a statement.

My first impression is that MW5 is much more polished than year ago (based on video footage as i only watched it) though there are still some rough edges and the way the opfor enters the area and behaves is a little arcady.
Yet the AI-Teammaates arent comletely useless and in the early missions do their job quite well.
PS: Though on the room for improvement list i would place a better sounding and more impressive looking missileplay as it looks and sounds not nearly as powerful and intimidating enough!!!

Modern PC gaming pretty much goes like this Release game -> Patch within 24 hours to fix bugs -> Fix Cause more bugs -> Repeat cycle. lol

modern? that has always been the case. i had games in the 90s that were doa until a point release could be obtained (and you had to hunt it down and install it manually). sometimes you would have to do weird things like swap out video driver versions for different games. sure they were a little better at not releasing unfinished garbage, but there were game breaking 0-day bugs that cropped up from time to time. and it usually took several days to remedy, now the infrastructure is in place for rapid rollout. this happens every time extreme hype meets unreasonable deadlines. it especially seems to plague aaa games.
you have to go back to the cartridge days before you get any kind of real qa in game dev. because once you burned the rom there was nothing you could do to the game. and even then there were festering piles of crap (see avgn). i know of a couple cases where cartridges had to be recalled in order to roll out a bugfix.

So the balance works, you just need some luck. Mission-wise the opponent mechs are very challenging and unlike before you don't just get swarmed, but the AI will try to trap you. The battles seem much more like previous MechWarrior games. The sandbox manages to hold your interest pretty well. Map generation is better also.

Sorry. My terminology was a bit off I meant gaming in general. That's what happens 48 hours no sleep lol. Yeah. Especially with the Street Fighter 2 editions. They'd add in a few new characters/stages fix what was wrong and release it but, anyway. Back to OT.

And if you had issues with this, I expected something more like what Elite Dangerous just went through. So yeah, PGI did great, and I enjoy the game again. Thanks guys.
