Mw5 Mercs Beta + Mw5 Is Steam ?

So I have the MW5 mercs bought/preordered before it was released. Will this edition work if I buy now the MW5 IS from steam ? or both need to be from Steam ? if the latter - any possibility to switch from standalone license to the Steam one?
