I always buy from GOG if I have the option due to no drm and no secondary launcher app needed. But how will multiplayer work? Will I have to create a separate account to log into the server or something?

pgi has their own crossplay system and gog will use that.
though i really wish they would specify how to use the new system. since i dont know anyone on epic and there is no lobby system to find people. would be nice if it was tied to my mwo account and i can just port over my friends list.

yea i was curious about that. not sure what to do with it. mw5mercs.com didnt seem to have a sign in or anything and there is nothing in the game to switch to pgi's crossplay.

Once you're in a co-op game if you open the pause menu (`Escape` on PC) and select an `Open Slot` under where it says `CO-OP MODE`, it'll prompt to you invite a contact. You can select `ADD CONTACT` on the top left and input that user's invite code to send them an invite.
The only un-intuitive part (at least for me) was having to be in game before being able to find that menu (I did it in the mechbay area; dunno if you can do it mid-mission).

thats modern ui design for you, hide all the things so you can have a clean ui. ignore the fact that its the antithesis of usability.

No idea because I have no friends.
Though I would like to see improvement in the Co-Op system.
GOG, I suggest reading their forums, there is at least 1 if not more topics on for some recent time they now have games that are NOT DRM free especially certain ones so if being DRM free is a big deal for you, really read up on that, it is a whole big issue over there.
