Can someone give me a break down the IS Factions and kind of like what they stand for? I checked the wiki but I might as well read the book. All i know is what I got from this game, and which Steiner likes the heavy metal. Can be like Space ninjas, or Rich People.

The only important IS faction is Federated Suns (House Davion). The writers always give them the best 'Mechs, they are protagonists of the significant part of BattleTech novels, and nothing actually wrong can happen to them.
All other IS factions are irrelevant.

Which would be more Marik than Fedsuns. Fedsuns are more Space Britain.

Hai, then there are the Limpy Swords, Swiners, of course the name primarily used by the fedrats for the honorable mechwarriors of the Draconic Combine.. dracs
Mind you, some of the colorful names are lore, while others carried through 3 different initiations of Multiplayer Battletech (MPBT) from the original EGA 3025 version on GEnie (1991-1996 - learn the meaning of Credit Card burnout ) to SVGA version, which was eventually ended as AOL/Gamestorm MPBT Solaris (Succession Wars package never went live - out of house 3rd party devs suck!! as well as AOL pulling their own stunt (1995 to 2000) then short lived EA MPBT 3025 before they closed down all non-inhouse developed games in 2001.

Take a few days out and read the books and watch the early cartoon series. It will help. Then take a weekend and play some table top Battletech and then you will enjoy the game a lot more.
