I would think that a Mech is cheaper the more it is destroyed so Headshotted Mechs should be the most expensive, followed by legged ones...they are the cheapest to repair, need the least spare parts, manhours etc. so their value is higher than a cored out Mech that needs 3 other Mechs canibalized to be repaired...
...so that is reasonable to me you need more salvage shares for more valueable Mechs...
Reasonable, but the problem is that the point value is so damned high that you have no hope of salvaging some mechs via headshot, even if you are a hero to the faction, and maxed out points on salvage.
I have literally been fighting high difficulty missions, one of which dropped nearly a full lance of assault mechs on me when the heaviest mech I had at the time was the Warhammer you get during the campaign, and the very first assault they threw at me? A goddamned Atlas, with Banshees, Victors and Battlemasters ever since. With all that metal out to murder me, you'd think I'd have salvaged one by now, but even with maximum points in salvage, I keep coming up short on the necessary points, especially if I got lucky and blew it's head off. The only reason I have an Awesome in my lance is because it popped up as a rare mech on an industrial hub world, and it was not cheap.
The salvage system in HBS's Battletech by comparison let me claim the Atlas that I took pristine via Highlander burial to the head. Seriously, stop punishing us for being awesome.
