Trying some early Campaign and Career, I notice there is this thing about early missions being for 145 tons.
Why especially when your early start is less?
Campaign not counting the MS bonus pilot and Phoenix Hawk, you got a Centurion, Jenner and Locust for free so that's 105 tons for missions rated at 145?
Career Lance Starts, Funny Real Funny.
Sorry but initial missions are 145 tons like that odd thing you do in Campaign yet you give people undertonned starting Lances.
Davion 120 tons - Enforcer-4R, Spider-5D, Locust-3V, Locust-1M
Rasalhague 125 tons - Phoneix Hawk-1K, Panther-8Z, Commando-3A, Locust-1V
Liao 125 tons - Cicada-3C, Firestarter-H, Javelin-1N, Locust-1E
Kurita 120 tons - Jenner-D, Panther-9R, Spider-5D, Locust-1V
Marik 120 tons - Assassin-21, Javelin-10F, Spider-5V, Flea-15
Steiner 125 tons - Griffin-1S, Commando-1B, Commando-2D, Locust-1V
What is this fixation on early 145 ton starts players do not have access to?

Well as only the MS store people get the 45 mech as a bonus the 145 ton max really does not affect many. Also, the word bonus has a meaning that one could look at as more than required. Furthermore, the early missions are so simple one does not need a full lance to complete.
I don't really see this as an issue.

It's for flexibility. If you pick up another mech or a better mech early on and want to swap out your lance composition, you have a bit of spare tonnage to do so. They likely didn't want you to be caught in a "I just got this new thing but I can't use it because tonnage limit" situation.
There's nothing wrong with dropping light. Even in high difficulty missions when I can field over 300 tons, I will often limit myself to 300. this is because I've made a few mechs completely OP so they punch above their weight class and because recon and beachhead missions reward mechs that move faster than Stalkers and King Crabs.

To make you strategize a little. You could try for salvage or just CBills to get more tons/ bigger mechs. Or save CBills and go to a higher level commercial hub and get a Heavy. Then you take the mechs that will do the mission best rather than the most tons.

I noted that.
I am convinced so far that many tried Campaign but not really much in Career or Instant Action that would show better why this is an issue.

For testing, I tried a few Instant Action matches taking a Centurion, Javelin, Jenner and Locust of the correct variants into Difficulty 15 (220 tons lance) matches.
Found out sometimes the enemy will be 2 Mediums + 1 Light and vehicles.
Other times enemy is 1 Medium + 3 Lights and vehicles.
First seems to be a harder fight than the second.
It also helps killing the target if you go straight towards them as fast as possible fighting as little as possible. When I do this, I win but if not, I can lose everything except the Locust.
Assassination also seems to, so far, always place the target at the farthest location from your drop.
Currently rating Assassination as the third most difficult mode after second place Warzone and first place Defense.
