About two hours ago I met a Tier 4 player in the game and I must say it quite surprised me. I thought that it should be a quite exceptional thing.




I checked it on the forums:





So my question is: Have you seen both Tier 1 player and Tier 5 player in one game recently? (since January or so?)

Is that even possible?

Possible at least when theres a group with players of several tiers in it.

So apparently this happens when there are not enough people in the que and MatchMaker just takes a big pull of some gin and just says, **** it.

Or he could have been floating around Tier 3 and Tier 4 zone, was Tier 3 at the drop but dropped back down after that match or the next set of matches prior to you checking the forums.... or as mentioned group (odds of 3 ?? CN9-A (was player in CN9-A dropping in the same match... or MM said ..I..

It is interesting that I did not experience a long waiting - not longer than usual.

I thought about it, but I checked the forum approximately one or two minutes after the game. So it is possible, but it would be a big coincidence.

I am Tier2, see 1-2 cadets from time to time.

When I was Tier 3, saw Baradul from time to time.

The only tiers the game really tries to separate are Tier 1 and 5.

Right so what might have happened is he was in queue for ages, and the MM gave up and threw him in with you. I've seen cadets in my games in off hours too. If the MM can't find a match for players quick enough it relaxes the rules.

I'm t1 and I regularly see cadets on both sides when dropping in a group of mixed tiers.

Groups will drag players up or down tiers based on their composition.

Exhibit A: A game I played last night. I was in a 3 mech group, unsure what tier the other two players are but they were low enough to pull me down to at least tier 3 for me to be matched with a cadet.

Off-hours games are always the worst, they're always extremely stompy and never fun, I've had both my best winning streaks and my worst losing streaks playing from 23:00-02:00 on Sunday nights in NA.

Yup I stop playing at 9pm EST because all bets are off shortly thereafter.

I have very rarely seen Cadets in my games too, but I thought that they are players who joined in mid-2020 and played very infrequently (like one game a month), so they have kept their Cadet status until now.

OP things have changed

after the initial PSR reset one of the T1's complained to Russ on tweeter about not being able to matches

so things got changed

I had thought that the match maker did not open until after 3 mins of searching

but I was told last week its 1 min of searching then the que opens up (still looking for documentation)

my personnel experience is I don't see the the top players like I did when I was T1
sadly none of the changes has made any difference in my stats

after 1 year you would think the whole PSR thing would be up for review/discussion
