So unfortunately MWO has a penalty when you leave a game and don't re-join fast enough, you get a penalty. Disconnection will obviously cause that annoyingly.
It's to stop some other issues from players leaving matches early. Understandably frustrating one but ye... Is what it is.
Once the timer expires (should be 10 seconds), you can play again no drama.

As far as I know, after the first 25 matches you'll have a grace period of some number of minutes during which you can reconnect without a penalty. cadets do not get that since cadet accounts could otherwise be used for trolling
