I recently upgraded from Wondows 7 to Windows 10.
Can someone please tell me where I can find the MW5 savegames in Wondows 7, please?

%appdata%\..\Local\MW5Mercs

this is where its at in epic. steam may do things differently.

i have used a junction point to keep the actual data in a place i actually backup.

Steam, GoG, Epic, all use the same location for the saves and user config. You can switch from the Epic to the Steam version and you'll see all your saves immediately.

Ultimately, the game devs choose it, not Steam or Epic Posted Image

You might be confusing it with saves in the game folder or whatever. That would cause a difference between two services. But, MW5 is using a Windows path and should be the same unless the service cannot use it because of its way of doing things can't for whatever reason.

not sure thats entirely true, i think steam has its own games folders. but the other ones just use the os default location.

OK, I found the folder, copied the whole folder to the corresponding place on the new HD, but MW5 doesn't find my saved game.
What do I need to do?
Create a new campaign and replace the file with my "old" files, maybe?

Very annoying, I had proceeded pretty far in the campaign and don't really want to start allover. Posted Image

Steam games can have save games in about 4 locations in general. Windows User's path is one of them.

To add to that. A game's dev and put saves anywhere they can gain access to and write to. Most devs only put them in normal places. Some game engines or versions may default saves to game folder or wherever and they might stick with that.

Do you really think its beyond the devs control to decide where to put the saves? They have no control over their own game? :-)

the fundamental difference with steam is it has support for cloud saves, this means save directories that the steam app controls. the game is just being fed its save path from the command line, ultimately the game doesn't care where the data goes, the platform determines that for you if it has a requirement or interest to do so. for non steam platforms, thats the defaults. also note that defaults may also be os dependent.

I had looked for a certain save to include it into an Bug-Report.
It seems that saves are stored in a way you would not find convenient as casual user and maybe it prevents the game from loadings imported saves bcs they get this weird number in sort of a saves list whitch may not be recognized if simply copied.

Try to make a new save and then rename your old save exactly the same way if it loads it then, ofc from the directory the new save was made in, you need to replace it with the renamed old one.

That could work...
