Make it so that pressing or holding W (or whatever key you have bound to the throttle forward) will angle your jump jets towards the direction your torso is facing. This is the only control; either nearly straight up as it is now, or angled forward in relation to your upper torso facing. This adds agility without overly buffing poptarting, because you'll have to get extra creative in your maneuvers to use this as part of a shot.

IE, if normal jumpjet shot you up at 80 degrees, pressing W would launch you more at 30-45 degrees.

To make this useful, have the forward distance potential be twice as much as the vertical distance potential in all cases.

IE: 1 point of jump fuel gets you X high, that same point of jump fuel gets you 2X far and 1/2X as high.

This will make a number of mechs more viable and universally make jump jets a prized possession for adding bursts of agility.

Edit: also indirectly increases TTK, as fitting more jump jets = slightly less tonnage for weapons and ammo.
